Man, their goalie has made some great timely saves or it would be 7-1
Yeah, PSU had several legitimate scoring chances in the 2nd period. Good goaltending.
Whistles seem to now be swallowed like they have in every regional game in 3rd.
PSU out raced Maine to several pucks that were cleared down ice in the first period. That and penalties were the difference.
I don't know if Maine was just flat tonight, but Penn State looked to be the more disciplined and more skilled team between the two by a lot. Maine never really felt that threatening around our goal. Great win against the Hockey East champ.

I looked up UConn's head-to-head record against Maine this year and they went 2-1-0-1 against them (2 wins, 1 loss, and 1 shootout loss). I get that they most recently lost decisively to Maine in their conference championship, but despite not having as big of a name in men's ice hockey as Maine, my guess is that UConn will probably prove to be a more difficult opponent—they have beaten some good teams this year.
Hopefully Dr. Kraft can find some money in the budget to send the Lion this afternoon. Having no one to hip check the Black Bear into the glass the other day was embarrassing.
