I'm surprised Kerk didn't try to ride Davison more after the TD, and wear him out
285 pounds: Greg Kerkvliet vs. Lucas Davison, Michigan
First period
Kerkvliet gets the first shot on a single leg shot to Davis' right ankle and he drives through for a takedown and a 3-0 lead. Davis is out fairly quickly to 3-1. With 24 seconds left Kerkvliet ducks behind Davison and takes him down for a 6-1 lead. Davison gets out before the end of the period for a 6-2 lead.
Second period
Davison picks down. He is out in about 15 seconds for an escape to cut the Kerkvliet lead to 6-3. After some work in neutral Kerkvliet snaps in on Davidson's head and drives through on a single and is truing to come through for a takedown with 25 seconds left and finally does step over with 18 seconds left for a takedown and a 9-3 lead.
Third period
Kerkvliet picks bottom to start the third. He is out in a hurry for a 10-3 advantage. Davison shoots and Kerkvliet counters for a 13-3 lead with 25 seconds left. He seeks a big extra point for the team race now. And he gets it and is a national champ

Davison had nothing. Kerk had 2 takedowns on nice ankle picks (I think). Davison had to push a little and Kerk countered for the other two takedowns
Outstanding match by Kerk! Very quick and decisive on his takedowns.
I think Davison took 2 shots before the last 20 or so seconds. The 2nd one resulted in a TD on a great counter by Kerk. The 1st one Kerk countered after he had stopped the shot (took a bit to do so).
