That’s Casty for you. This team is having a great season, but I’m skeptical about them contending in October for the reasons we saw today. No closer and poor situational hitting will doom a team in the postseason. The Mets walk in the 5th run, bases loaded with Phillies, were one run down, their pitcher can't throw a strike and Castellanos goes up there and hacks away, quickly 0-2 and then hits a dribbler in front of the plate for a game ending double play.
Just flat out stupid......make him throw strikes for crying out loud.
That was a HORRIBLE at bat.
Most would agree that Casty isn’t a good clutch hitter. Not even close. These Phillies still have too many bad at bats, though Schwarber hitting .230 is a real plus.Didn’t casty walkoff a few hours ago? What am I missing?
And…..we’re back.
They have pitched out their *** and played well in the field. If you throw it and catch it well, you’re going to win a ton of games. They have played a big stretch of games with one of their best and highest paid players watching from the dugout. They will now have to play a month without the heartbeat of this team. Two big tests:
1. Milwaukee Brewers. The staff passed that one with flying colors.
2. Baltimore Orioles over this coming weekend at Camden Yards will tell a lot.

Offensively they have played with below expectation of output from the OF.
If you listened to Schwarber last night he said they enjoy winning but hate losing. They are in total lockstep and each guy has contributed at times, This is a special group. I don’t see a huge slump but do expect some up and downs. It was mentioned that they came to camp with a chip knowing they let an opportunity slip by last year. There is a focus that you don’t see this often. Enjoy the ride, I think it goes deep into the fall.
