Interesting but I'm going with statistical anomaly.

You're an astute better, so I like your interpretation.

FWIW, it has been an absolute joy this season to be a Phillies fan. The team hasn't started a season this well since the 1993 season.

That said, I've always cautioned fans that a season is long, and most teams have ups and downs over the course of the season. In that context, it's hard not to wonder when things will go south for a long stretch for the Phillies. Kruker said the other night on the postgame that with the pitching and defense this team has, he doesn't see any long losing streaks for the Fightins, even if the offense goes in a funk. Is he right? Only time will tell.

They played out of their minds defense in the Brewers series.

I think the pitching should hold serve for the year but I’m not sure that D will.

I think some of it depends on how the trading deadline goes with regards to OFs. Do you want D ((Rojas) or O ?

Would love to see them beat up on the Mets now and have the Mets 20 games back by mid June and basically their season over.

If there is any takeaway from that stat, it's 'why weren't the Phils more successful in those years where they did so well in the regular season?'. Could be just bad luck, but I've long wondered if the Philly fans put too much pressure on their teams, resulting in a tendency to crumble (1964?). I hope we all learned from the Trea Turner party last year that it's better to lift a guy up than to boo him.

I hope Kruk is right, but I'm with you. There will likely be a slump or two at some point (and more streaks too). Let's just hope it's not in the playoffs.

If you click on it, this is a thread detailing the plane they flew over on. Pretty nice.

I’m also scared that this trip is gonna mess up their rhythm. I’m worried they come back and stink for a week or two. Red Sox and Orioles on the road next week.

Flying to London for two games is a lot in my eyes. Shoot if you’re gonna do it, I’d rather they send 3-4 teams over and they play each other for a week or so.

That's a way better idea.

Yeah, a buddy of mine brought that up to me a few weeks back. The more I thought about it, it makes much more sense for the players. My only thought was whether London has enough fan support to make it look good if you play 10-14 games or something like that.

London Stadium is pretty big. It doesn’t have to be sold out every game, but if you have some games that look bad on TV, that’s not good either.

You also run into an issue if you get a few rainy days, which is common there. Then you gotta refund everyone in England, plus schedule them in the US when they get back. At least when you reschedule here those tickets are accounted for.

There are a bunch of things to think about, but I’d definitely be curious to see if it would work.

Love the Phillies but they have arrived here by beating a bunch of nobodies. Their stat against teams with an over .500 record is like 4 and 2.

For some, it’s not enough that the sky is blue, it’s the wrong Pantone.

Two thoughts so far.

It’s strange seeing a big wall behind home plate.

Hate seeing ZOOM as the sponsor as it keeps reminding me of work on my weekend.

So they’re beating who they’re supposed to beat. Handily. What’s the issue?

No issue. The stat indicates they have played very few teams to date with a record over .500. They did blast the Brewers. Personally I think their record will remain on the pace it’s on. It’s an interesting stat MLB provides in their standings. To date, the Phillies have played fewer quality teams than any other team.

If you look at teams that would be .500 or higher if not for playing the Phillies, then it’s like 18-6 or something.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics.

For context, at the moment only 4 of the 15 National League teams have a winning record.

Only 6 of the 15 American League teams have a winning record.

Overall, only 10 of the 30 MLB teams have a winning record.🤷‍♂️
