Apparently the Mets were willing to play on Monday and the league (or Braves) shot it down.

Very possible both games get postponed and the Mets won't leave for Milwaukee until Friday. Imagine the Mets having to play a doubleheader on Saturday, leave for Atlanta Sunday evening, play a doubleheader Monday, then fly to San Diego or LA for the wild card round Monday night. Now, that would be insane!
I'm confused...I thought they are going to play a doubleheader this coming Monday? Do you mean the Mets saw the weather coming and wanted to play the game this past .Monday?

It'll be an interesting weekend to follow the NL wildcard race. I'm hoping for the following unlikely scenario.
  • The D'backs sweep the Padres
  • The Mets sweep a Brewers team which is locked into the #3 seed and has nothing to play for
  • The Braves sweep the Royals
  • The Braves sweep the Monday doubleheader
That would be a four way tie. I have no idea how the tie breakers would work out.

Ranger pithing is alarming, 42 pitches, 5 hits, 4 runs in the first

Yeah, that was a step backwards. He showed signs of improvement (velocity and location) in his last outing, so only getting through 2 innings tonight, and giving up 6 runs, is not what you'd like to see in his last start before the playoffs.

Not Phils related, but watching some of ChiSox-Tigers on MLB. Great to see a full house in Detroit to watch their team hopefully clinch a wild card spot. What a turnaround and AJ Hinch should be in the running for MOTY.

@Grant Green are you still confident in Ranger for the playoffs? He looked Walker-esque last night.
Was gone for the weekend, so just saw the final. Well, certainly Sanchez gets the #3 and Ranger doesn't look like the same guy he was at the start of the season. Still think he can be a serviceable #4 in the playoffs. He gets a bunch of time to work things out.

So, who are we rooting for? Braves take an early 2-0 lead in game 1. Odds are they will split these two games, but seeing the Mets get swept would probably put a smile on my face.

The speculation I've read is that when Ranger hurt his back, he lost strength in his legs. He's not able to generate the same leg push now and that's negatively impacted his velocity. It makes sense as to how he could fall. off so dramatically from earlier in the year.

He's lobbing 75 mph curveballs out there. That stuff gets you bombed fast at this level.
