Kilty with a 5th, Welker with the bronze. All that's left is repechage with Kennedy Blades.

I just don’t know what to think about Blades. I’ve been the president of her fan club from the beginning but I’m starting to have major doubts. Her wrestling IQ isn’t very high and she really seems to have plateaued as a wrestler. She has dominated in the past because of her superior athleticism. I thought as time went on she would develop more in actual wrestling technique and tactics which would make her unstoppable when paired with her athleticism. This is probably extremely harsh considering she won Olympic silver and is wrestling for a medal right now. I just thought she was going to be on a path similar to Elor and that looks more and more unlikely. I think she will continue to be one of the most electric wrestlers on the planet and be in the conversation to place every time out and that is an incredible place to be. I had just thought early in her career that she might go down as one of the goats.

But am I wrong? She is undoubtedly great with multiple Olympic and world medals. She seems to have plateaued though. Have you seen improvements over the past 5 years?

Also, it’s completely fine to say these exact same things about Spencer but not Kennedy?

If you slow the video you can see her whisper in each recipients ear. I read lips and dabble in Korean. "please, can you help smuggle me to an embassy before I get on a plane back to my hell hole of a country?"
Sad, but my thought were the same.

I’m sure the athletes’ families are being “lovingly looked after” by the dear leader until they get home to avoid just that.

How do countries qualify weight classes for world championships? I understand the Olympic process but have not been able to find the worlds.

I think literally all you have to do is send someone to Continentals at that weight; just participate in Continentals and you can send someone to Worlds. It's why you see brackets of differing size at Worlds

Yeah for the most part as long as countries compete in the continental tournament, they can send someone to worlds. Sometimes they don't even have to go to continentals. So, continentals/worlds are essentially "open" tournaments allowing 1 representative per country.

It's unique in that sometimes you'll see non-traditional wrestling countries send athletes to worlds who look like they're first-year wrestlers. This match from 2024 U23 Worlds - Aoyagi (this year's 70kg world champ) against a wrestler from Hong Kong is a perfect example of a "first-year" wrestler competing at a world championships.

Anytime you click on a video that ends up being behind a paywall, it feels like you’ve been Rick-rolled. Can’t decide which is worse: being Rick-rolled or being Flo-rolled?

I’ve been to North Korea. It was a business venture intended to help young children get much needed antibiotics. That a sports organization would support such an evil government by allowing participation by North Koreans is a stain that will never be washed away. Nuff said because this is a wrestling forum, but, having seen North Korea up close, …. I just had to say …….
