Without reading the whole thread, I’m sure I’m repeating someone who already said how amazing it is that Cael’s first surrogate coached two NCAA champions and one World Senior champ in his first year!

Congratulations to Kennedy Blades for the bronze!

So close - if China had lost either of their bronze matches, suprisingly USA would get the 3rd place team trophy. As it is they will place 4th.

Edited to add: I meant if China has lost both.

Kennedy Blades!!!

Kennedy wrestled a very smart match here, taking advantage of her opponent's forward pressure to get several scores on the edge. She looked so much better than in her match with Japan, who really took it to her. I'm so glad she was able to be pulled into repechage and finished out the tournament wrestling really well.

The repechage system can be a heartbreaker, especially when several of the best wrestlers are grouped together. So far this tournament PJ, Spencer and Jayden Raney are among the most notable wrestlers who have had the misfortune of not getting pulled into repechage. The wrestler who beat Raney is a four-time World champion, so one never knows if they will be pulled into repechage or not. I would have loved to see if Spencer could have turned things around. I also think PJ would have had a great chance to get a medal.

With all due respect, if you don't pay for a flo subscription you shouldn't be surprised when you can't watch matches on flo lol
I agree. I know it. But I get disappointed every time it happens. It’s on me, not Flo. But, respectfully, that doesn’t mean I have to like it.

But am I wrong? She is undoubtedly great with multiple Olympic and world medals. She seems to have plateaued though. Have you seen improvements over the past 5 years?

Also, it’s completely fine to say these exact same things about Spencer but not Kennedy?

Kamal Bey had to win 2 repechage matches to get to the bronze medal match. He won the 1st, 10-2, over Mateusz Bernatek. He faced Ahmet Ylmaz (Turkey) in the 2nd (who won bronze last year's Worlds at a higher weight class). He appeared to take the lead in the match on a TD, but Turkey challenged the call, and it was determined that Bey had committed a leg foul. So he lost the 2nd match, 4-2.

I don’t think 86kg will ever be in the cards for Brooks again. Assuming he’s back, I imagine Carter and Dake will both be at 86 for 28 trials.

Kerkvliet has multiple wins over Hendrickson. Now that he’s back, I think Parris is the guy to beat though.

Thanks, is Kerk signed with the NLWC?

Levi? McEnelly may be the guy to beat by then.

Yeah, there’s a ton of young guys who will be at that weight. McEnelly is already a big 86 to my eye—I do wonder if he stays there. I’d say Zahid has the inside track to being the favorite.

@5q I haven’t seen if Kerkvliet is officially signed with NLWC, but that was my understanding of his intentions. He does also flirt with MMA though so who knows.

It's not like you can tell from the NLWC website. Roster doesn't include Dake, so it was last updated at least 3 years ago. Probably longer.

Though Taylor and Gilman aren't on the roster either, so who knows how/when updates are made.
