Not to change the subject but I have noticed a persistent trend of making appliances unrepairable. It took the guy at Christopher’s Hardware twenty minutes to find the proper screwdriver for the screws in my Dyson vacuum.
Create a Do It Yourself account and post the symptoms, make, model, and revision (often mfg make running changes to their products) on their appliance forum. If you don't know the revision don't worry as someone will most likely send you a brochure for you to determine the revision. Introduce yourself first and humbly ask for help. I've had great success. One time I was having trouble understanding the instructions I was given and the guy who gave me the data asked for my phone number and walked me right through the solution, at about 9AM on a Sunday morning. It's a great community of people willing to help.Funny that this is brought up now. Have a 10 yr old Kenmore Washer that I have an issue with. When it gets to the final stage to do the Rinse/Spin, it sometimes starts and but doesn't complete. If I just go and do a Rinse/Spin cycle, it may take two attempts to get the cloths to finally complete the Spin. Some sites recommended changing the Capacitor. Tried that, but of course, no difference. Hate to buy a new one when it probably only needs some unknown part to be replaced.
Don't know what brand I would get now if I can't get this fixed.
Ok. Fellas. Taking a break from the debacle in Columbus today. Do any of you have a recommendation for a gas stove/range? Our piece of junk is throwing a code again after several repairs and I don’t want to put any more money in it. I’ve already spent $800 to repair it over 3 repairs.
Thanks Tom. I appreciate it. After the game, my wife and I went out looking at new ones and they all looked the same to me. I just want something that I won’t have to repair or replace in 7 yrs.Kenmore Elite would be my recommendation. They are more expensive than the standard ranges, but less than the high end. And my experience with them is that they last quite a bit longer than the standard gas ranges.
We had a GE French Door style refrigerator in our winter home that stopped cooling after 3 years of 4 month use. In other words it operated for a year. The problem was a refrigerant leak but the cost to repair was more than the cost of a new fridge. The lines are sealed in the insulation so you can't get at them to repair.Seems like some of you on this board know a lot about many things, so I'm asking. Reason is one of my cousins had a 5 year old GE refrigerator that croaked. Repairman said it couldn't be repaired, so they ended up having to buy a new one.
My question is, what brand of kitchen appliances are best, which do you trust? For years I've had Kitchenaids with no problems. My daughter has gone with Bosch and Fisher-Paykel.
The salesman today tried to show us a GE gas range first. After horrible experiences with GE washer and dryer, it made me cringe. We had a GE French Door style refrigerator in our winter home that stopped cooling after 3 years of 4 month use. We have a frigidaire gallery gas range that we bought 10 or years ago with a refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave. We still have the microwave and range. The range is the only appliance that has not needed a repair.Ok. Fellas. Taking a break from the debacle in Columbus today. Do any of you have a recommendation for a gas stove/range? Wellll, the range I’m replacing is a Frigidaire Gallery. We bought all Fridgidaire Gallery appliances when we remodeled the kitchen in 2015. The dishwasher only lasted a year before needing the control panel master board replaced. It totally crapped out about a year and half ago and was replaced. The range has had a control panel replaced and flashed sensor codes 3 times since. Approximately $800 in repairs and it’s flashing a sensor code again. I’m not putting any more money in it. The fridge works but the ice maker stopped working about 8 months ago. I have no idea what brand to go for. Haven’t had luck with GE appliances either. We have a frigidaire gallery gas range that we bought 10 or years ago with a refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave. We still have the microwave and range. don't jinx me.

Goldstar is now LG.Does anyone here remember Goldstar electronics? They were always the cheapest vcr's, DVD players, TV's, etc.
You got what you paid for but man they were affordable to the point where they were almost like disposables.
Well. Fast-forward 20 years and Goldstar has recast themselves as none other than LG, now viewed as somewhat of a high end brand. Remarkable marketing.
Having said that, our LG fridge needed a new compressor in 3 years. No longer priced like a disposable.
Will be moving away from LG as things wear out and break. And toward GE or Whirlpool.
Goldstar is now LG.
So it is. mea culpaAs noted in my post. 🫣
