I had to think on this one. Penn State Sub Shop on Beave. It was (maybe is) the cheesiest slice ever. You would have to chew forever.............. Great when you were partaking.... lol...

We used to sit on a short stone wall across the street. Triangle was one of the frats there.

Supposedly doing future “pop ups” whatever that means. At least you won’t have the sadness after having had their food and beer like I do knowing it won’t be a regular opportunity anymore.
Time will decide what they do. Growing up with family in the food service business, they always go back. It's like an addiction. 🙂

That would have been Pizza Pi, both owned by the same guy, Scott ?? I worked there delivering subs and pizzas my super senior year in ‘85-‘86.

Pizza Rock in Vegas was fantastic. They offer different styles - and they use different ovens and cooking methods based on the style. We had a Prosciutto and fig and an coccoli appetizer that was out of this world.
We also grab a slice of Sicilian at his Allegiant Stadium location. Definitely elevates the stadium pizza game. Huge cuts and super light dough. Definitely check this place out when in Vegas.

Just another entry for everyone when you want a pie or slice. Franco’s Pizzeria in Berwick. Just a righteous sauce and crust.

Sad news for NEPA pizzaphiles: Here and Now Brewery is closing up shop as of Jan 3rd. This is a major bummer as good pizza places around us are now getting far and few between.
Good news. Here and Now post on Facebook notes they are just taking a break and not closing they will reopen.

The best Collarussos by far. All of the other Collarussos are imposters, including the Jessup location. My mother loves Anthony's pizza and everyone I know including my wife says Rinaldi has the best risotto in the area...not my thing. Had no clue about Arcaro and Genells. My uncle was in the food service business and would frequent AG often. When he passed they sent enough food to my aunt's house to feed 100 people. My wife was at a shower there not too long ago. Was his shutting down to only take out recent?
Dave Colarusso in Hanover Twp is no imposter. His pizza is outstanding.

I'm sure it's good as it's all the family recipe. I've had the pizza from at least 5 different locations and the original Avoca pizza is the best imo. The old Italian women still serve but that's only a bonus on how much better the pizza is than the other kids joints.

My Dad’s family is from Avoca. I am very familiar with the Cafe, which was previously Timlin’s. My record for pizza trays ordered is 16, which I brought back to Allentown for friends. It is really good.

Jam - Based on living in the area, I have no doubt that you might be aware of the new Colarusso’s opening in the old Gabello’s (that was great OF pizza btw).

I don’t know if they are open yet, but you will need to provide a review when it opens.

I didn't know that and will definately check it out and report here. A relation owned a former restaurant at that location.

Collarussos are the new Dunkin in NEPA. There's one on every corner. 🙂

Cesari's used to be very good- they aren't anymore, based on my last two visits (2019 and 2020)

Best pizza I've eaten is in NYC. Photos include Don Antonio (1st pic), Capizzi (photo 2&3), Marta (4-6), and Eataly Downtown (7&8).

No sir. I'll fill you in when we get together for cocktails at the Blue White. Aurant's was fantastic! Last time there I had the pheasant and it was delicious! Sad to see them go. I understand they are involved with a dark vibed place in downtown Scranton now?

We ate at the Jessup one last time we were in town. The doublecrust white with broccoli was great but the red was among the worst we’ve ever had. We only ever got white from there so it was the first time with red. The dough was off and the sauce tasted like a canned sauce. Very disappointing.

We went to that one this summer and felt the same way about the red. Four or five years ago it was great when we'd take the kid's basketball teams there after games in that area.

I had one slice last summer, thought it was still pretty good. Was my first visit since, I think 2019. I don't believe I had it that year.

Has anyone tried DeLucia’s in Raritan, NJ? I just saw a pizza review on it from Barstool. Going to be in that area next week for work and wondering if it is worth a stop?

Tony's in the North Beach section of San Francisco. He makes dozens of different styles and has four different ovens (wood-fired, coal-fired, gas and electric) and they're all amazing. My favorites are his Detroit style and the simple Tomato Pie.

I once watched a waiter bring out a beautiful-looking pie to a family, and before they could dig in Tony himself ran out of the kitchen and whisked it away. He came back a few minutes later and told them that he saw it on its way out the door and it didn't meet his standards so he was making them a new one. Believe me when I tell you that the first pizza that was served was something that I would've happily demolished, but it didn't meet Tony's standards.

Well, I'm gonna have to pay a visit or two to Tony's Pizza. But I have to say that I am just a little skeptical. In my years of traveling back and forth between the Bay Area and Eastern and Central Pennsylvania, I have consistently found the bread, and the pizza crust, back in Pennsylvania to be superior to anything that I could find out here in California. Not close, in fact. I have always supposed it had something to do with the water back there, as opposed to here. I dunno. But your post gives me some cause for optimism. Thanks.

Looking forward to hearing your report. I like to go with a group to get three or four different styles to share. Pretty sure you'll find at least one that you'll love.

Place gets busy, though. I typically go about an hour or so before I'll actually want to eat just to get my name on the list, and then go down the street and have a beer or two while waiting.
