It’s right across from the entrance to the park. You could throw a stone and hit it.No. When the DelGrosso's expanded their water park, to include a lazy river, wave pool, and other attractions, they unfortunately eliminated the Texas hot dogs building as they needed the additional space. They did however add quite a few concessions buildings in the water park itself, including an authentic Philly Cheese Steak shop. The family went to philly and sampled many different cheese steaks, took samples back to Penn State's food science department, and "reverse engineered" the sandwich so that they are making pretty exact replicas of the authentic thing.
There are two Texas Hot Dogs locations still in Altoona, but unfortunately none at the park anymore.
Yes. Just north or the entrance to the park.Is the Texas hot dog place still there (Austins?)
Cash and take out only. One size.I go up that way at times for work. I'll try to stop in.
It doesn't taste anywhere near as good to me. IDK others thoughts on it.I don't know if it's the best, but it's the one I crave the most, perhaps because it reminds me of happier times, when the world was sweet and carefree, and I had a lifetime of dreams in front of me. Sicilian at HiWay Pizza in State College. I have not been there in 10 years and it's the only reason I would consider a return to the area.
My wife grew up da street from Centioles. Good pie. 2 Centiole slices with a screamer. PerfectCentiole's in Girardville PA right in coal country. Girardville is perhaps best known for their St. Patty's parade, which will be held March 26th, 2022. If you go to the parade be sure to visit the Hibernian House (think Molly Maguires) where the fun will continue through the night. Centiole's is almost always sold out on parade day, but give it a try.
They make the best breakfast pizza. I grew up on Nirchis.I like Nirchis in upstate New York
If you live in Pearland, why are you sharing Eastern pizza joints? Nothing better in your hood?1- Park Pizza in Williamsport
2- Pete and Eldas in Neptune, NJ
Nope. Pearland and Houston have outstanding food but subpar pizza. The two I shared are the two best I’ve enjoyed and happen to come from a couple old haunts from yesteryear. If you live in Pearland, why are you sharing Eastern pizza joints? Nothing better in your hood?
i am sure she remembers Marrones. Was a Great ItalIan restaurant in GirardvilleMy wife grew up da street from Centioles. Good pie. 2 Centiole slices with a screamer. Perfect
My go to was Caputo’s in Fair Lawn from 1950 to early sixties. Spices in dough, stringy Mozzarella . I don’t know when they closed but we left north Jersey in late 60’s. (I left 1963 for Penn State) It’s like looking for the Holy Grail for me.There are three of them in Bergen County - Edgewater, Hackensack and Ridgewood.
I’ll second Frank Pepes as being the best; never had the other two, although I’ve heard of both of them.My top 3:
1. Frank Pepes- New Haven, CT
2. Grimaldis- Brooklyn, NY
3. John's- Manhattan
Agree with you on Casero Pizza in Lemoyne. When I travel up from DFW on business and to see family in Perrry County I try to stop by. It is worth the stop.1. A little pizza shop outside of Pompeii ruins. No idea on the name.
2. Regina's in Boston on the North Side near Paul Revere's house.
3. Casseros at West shore market in Lemoyne PA.
Each was very different.
Lol. Let me think about this. Yeah, same.Never had a pizza I didn’t like.
agree. my mom's from old forge, have been going there for 50 years, and it has really dropped off. dunmore is the new old forge. but my favorite is maroni's in west scranton on st. ann's st.I live in NEPA, and IMO, the quality of Old Forge pizza has dropped plus our favorite place, Ghigarelli’s, has closed due to the owner “disappearing”. Hmmm….
Pepes gave me the splatters.I’ll second Frank Pepes as being the best; never had the other two, although I’ve heard of both of them.
Wow, what a vivid testimony to the power of the English language.Pepes gave me the splatters.
If pizzas were manhole covers, the sewer would be a paradise. My top 3:
1. Frank Pepes- New Haven, CT
2. Grimaldis- Brooklyn, NY
3. John's- Manhattan
Screamers is an apt description. My wife grew up da street from Centioles. Good pie. 2 Centiole slices with a screamer. Perfect
Maroni's is good, as is Brownies nearby there.agree. my mom's from old forge, have been going there for 50 years, and it has really dropped off. dunmore is the new old forge. but my favorite is maroni's in west scranton on st. ann's st.
Sadly, we never made it up that way. A couple of weeks ago we had plans to get there and the hit the fan. I was even checking out the beer selection that morning. I hope they regroup and reopen soon.Sad news for NEPA pizzaphiles: Here and Now Brewery is closing up shop as of Jan 3rd. This is a major bummer as good pizza places around us are now getting far and few between.
Supposedly doing future “pop ups” whatever that means. At least you won’t have the sadness after having had their food and beer like I do knowing it won’t be a regular opportunity anymore.Sadly, we never made it up that way. A couple of weeks ago we had plans to get there and the hit the fan. I was even checking out the beer selection that morning. I hope they regroup and reopen soon.
