Boy, UGA week used to generate all kinds of discussion. I guess the crickets around here tells us all we need to know about our chances in this one! Let us think back to better days:

1. Gotta start with an all-time Gamecock classic and my personal all-time favorite: the Brandon Bennett leap. Love the Larry Munson call..."lay down boys!"

2. Then you've got the infamous Pick 5 game:

3. The Melvin Ingram fake punt for TD

One of favorite all time games. Here's a good writeup of the off air comments from Herbie/Muss where they're talking about how they can't hear anything in their earpieces bc it's so loud. At one point Muss seemed concern that the booth was shaking. This was the game where I thought we were morphing into a NT contender. :(

After first USC score "That was quick" - Herbstreit

After USC interception: "Watch out, the defense is dialed in" -Musburger "Long game yet" -Herbstreit "My they look good" - Musburger "What?" -Herbstreit "That defense gets rolling and watch out" - Musburger "Georgia needs a stop"- Herbstreit

After USC second touchdown: "That looked too easy" -Herbstreit "It sure did" - Musburger "Heather, are you red or white?" - Musburger (Not sure but I think this refers to which sideline she is currently on) "She's red, going white" -Unknown male (In truck maybe) "Heather?" -Unknown male (In truck maybe) "Heather?" -Unknown male (In truck maybe) "Can we get a field report? I don't think Heather has a copy" -Unknown male (Someone in booth) "It's awfully loud down there"- Musburger "10-4" -Unknown male (reply to field report question from someone in truck)

Coming back from break following second score: "Do we have Heather?" - Musburger "Yes, will use first break S-1 and return. She cannot hear truck ques"- Unknown male. (Truck guy probably)

Following punt return for TD: "Can you believe this?" -Herbstreit "Can't hear a thing" - Musburger "They don't have a clue right now" -Herbstreit "Can I get an adjustment, I can't hear"- Musburger "Can you feel this? Is our room moving?" - Herbstreit " 6 west just said the same thing" - Unknown male (Booth guy refering to camera guy stating his position is shaking) " Like bouncing kinda" -Background voice (Different booth guy replying to Herbstreit) "I think it is" - Herbstreit " South Carolina smacked them with that one" -Musburger " I don't know if they come back from this one" -Herbstreit " Is this the best scene in college football you've seen Herbie?" -Musburger " I don't know if it's the best ever, but it's the scariest yeah" -Herbstreit " Remarkable scene" -Musburger " Unbelievable" - Herbstreit

Oops, meant to include this one but forgot. Man, that was electric. There are not many times in our history when we socked a team in the mouth like that right out of the gate, a top 5 team at that.

Looking back, we had a second half TD drive that started at the end of the 3rd quarter and took 9:28 off the clock. 14 plays, 80 yards, and ALL rush plays. 14 rushing plays in a row and UGA couldn't stop us.

My how times have changed!

From the 2012 UGA game. Video picks up the start of our 14 play 80 yard drive that featured all rushing plays...14 in a row. Maybe Beamer shoudl show this to the team.

Enjoy!

Looking back, it's hard to even imagine that's a South Carolina football team. Total domination on both sides of the ball for all 4 quarters against a top 5 team.

AJ Cann, TJ Johnson, Brandon Shell, Ronald Patrick, and Cory Robinson. That was a really good group.

I watched the Quincy Carter pick 5 game in the hospital with my dad and my uncle, who was dying of cancer. It cheered him up.

We haven't had a QB, line or RB like that since. Mike Davis could have been close but he took himself out of the game after every good gain.

Your #3 is my #1 ALL-TIME favorite.

Melvin is STILL running!!!

It's like I can hear Fred G. Sanford yelling to his buddy Melvin because he left the house after seeing those coffins ... "MELVIN! MELVIN!! Come on BACK!!!" :ROFLMAO:

Mike Hold's coming out party.
Georgia 1984: This game was a memorable upset. Before the season began, Mike Hold, South Carolina's backup quarterback, was thinking about transferring to Arizona State. Offensive coordinator Frank Sadler had told Hold that as long as he was offensive coordinator, he would never play. Hold called his dad and announced he was transferring, but his dad told him to stay one more week for the Georgia game. Starting quarterback Allen Mitchell was injured, and Hold had a 66-yard quick kick and a 62-yard pass to Ira Hillary that set up the game-winning touchdown, which he scored on a two-yard run. The result was a 17-10 upset over #12 Georgia that jump started a 10-1 season. Hold later stayed and said that it "was the best decision I've ever made in my life."

11:44 mark is the big play

I wish somebody had the last TD drive that won the game at Georgia in 2001. That was the greatest road win I've ever attended in person, other than the win over UPC in 1968 (Tyler Hellams punt return). Not a high-scoring game in Athens but a great SEC Saturday night game - terrific college football game in general.
