That would be nice, but have you ever seen a back up QB less prepared/developed than Roberson when he took the field? Allar is a different talent to be sure, but given what I saw against Iowa I have no confidence in our coaches to develop an adequate backup let alone a QB with Allar’s ceiling. Hopefully enrolling early and getting under Yurcich’s tutelage will help.
Wtf are you talking about? Outside of Roberson which previous backups were inadequate? Levis left and immediately started in the sec. The backup prior to him was Stevens who left and immediately started in the sec as well. The backup prior to stevens was Trace. All ended up incredibly inadequate.

Neither. We won’t win with Allar in 2022 because he’ll be a true freshman. We won’t win with Allar in 2023 because Franklin will have ruined him by then. o_O
Franklin doesn't have time to ruin him,

He's too busy working on his next contract extension,
Hiring a new DC,
Securing the 2022 recruits,
Getting ready to be 1-0 in the Outback bowl,
Watching coaching videos on "clock management/use of time outs", "when to go for it on 4th down" and my personal favorite "how to correctly fold arms & look disinterested",

Scouring the McA board for suggestions and criticisms on how to fix the team,

Shopping for shampoo,

Wash, rinse, repeat.....

Next year will be more of a disaster than this year. I was hoping Sean would move on to his life's work. I honestly believe he has regressed over the past two years. Injury or not.... O-line issue or not... If we are going to go 7-5, I'd like to see us do that giving a freshman QB a chance and roll the dice on someone who could be a potential game changer for the program. This is bad bad news. I'm very disappointed.
This. There will not be any competition, CJF allowed this to give him the best chance at a winning record for next year. Cliff has regressed as I pointed out all season. IMO, a QB competition between CV and the freshmen would have been the best way to go. CV should hit the transfer portal. I’m disappointed as well

I guess this is a good thing, he really didn't have any other options, he's not an NFL talent.

I think we're better off in 22 with Clifford back. I think it's better for Allar too. I think it's bad news for CV and it will lead him to the Portal after 22 when it's clear Allar is the next QB.

Anyhow, Clifford will give us more stability at QB than we would have had otherwise and it gives Allar a chance to learn and mature for 1.5 years before becoming the man.

Pretty straight forward for me. If we're truly a 10+ win potential team next year, start Clifford. If we're a 5 loss team as we have been, get the kids in there for experience. I'd rather even start CV and let Allar learn under him instead of Clifford if next year is a throw away season.

If Franklin doesn't have a true competition at QB and sticks with Clifford just because he's been the starter, it'll really show that he is not a championship level coach. Look at Saban. He took out a multi-year starter in Hurts who wasn't terrible and put in an inexperienced Tua which led to one of their championships. He just doesn't realize that a head coach should not be best buddies with the players. You earn the respect of the entire team by being a competent game day manager and by playing those who give the team the best chance to win.

Kenny Picket 2.0 but Pickett is way better.
I just looked at the Phil Steele 2021 book, and Pickett was the #64 PS QB while Clifford was the #15 PS QB. I believe they are the same QB class. So coming out of HS, Clifford was ranked much higher than Pickett.

At first I was not thrilled that Sean would come back, as most teams do not need 6 yr QBs who are not NFL talent. However, if this is handled optimally, it could work out. By that I mean that Clifford can NOT be given all the snaps through the season. I want to see opportunities given to CV, DA and BP. All the QBs need to be given a good opportunity to compete, and SC cannot be guaranteed all the snaps in practice and games. Not sure that we are going to see it handled that way, but hope we move in this direction. By year end, SC would be getting very minor role. We are not seeing him going to the NFL or Heisman, so no reason to give him the reins start to finish.

The Outback Bowl is going to be a good litmus test. I am hoping to see a pretty good split between SC and CV in that game. Is SC even back to 100%, and if not CV should get most of the PT.

I feel the same after thinking on it a bit; Clifford's presence and leadership will be very valuable, as will his playing to help buy time to better develop CV, DA, BP - but, the key is getting those guys meaningful reps. Problem is most back-up QBs get reps in blow outs; we rarely blow anyone out and/or when we do, the back ups only come in for a series to hand the ball off. Do this right, and could theoretically get the best of both worlds (assuming someone doesn't transfer because of SC's return - namely, CV, since he has the most experience and is most game ready in an emergency).
