First time in 137 years for IU. One hell of a hire.

Arnett did, at least 18 senior starters and coming off 9-4, but we needed our boosters to fire the coaching staff, replace with good ol boy cronies and change the offense to rundaball. GENIUSHe obviously walked into a fantastic situation with a bunch of 4 & 5 star players and 22 Senior Starters.
It wasn't easy. He put in a lot of hard work, made the right moves, and knew what he was doing. The point is, he was available when we were looking for a coach. It could've been State.I love the way everyone finds the one huge success story and acts like it should be that easy for everyone
Are you f ing serious?I love the way everyone finds the one huge success story and acts like it should be that easy for everyone
What?Coaching searches are often shots in the dark, but at least you can light a candle or turn on a flashlight.
Did you read the entire post? What?
That’s the same loser mentality that’s got us in the shape we’re in
I’m tired of that crap. No. It’s not a crap shoot if you have a brain cell in your head.
If you had a brain cell you would have gotten his jokeWhat?

This is the correct answer.I love the way everyone finds the one huge success story and acts like it should be that easy for everyone
Easy, just like the Auburn hire? Better odds, yes. Easy, no.Are you f ing serious?
Pull up the GD recruiting rankings for IU over the last 5 years. Yes. I have a family member that graduated from there in the last 5 years.
That guy is one of the best coaches in the game.
It is that easy dipstick when you place your criteria for hiring someone with head coaching experience.
Deion Sanders (I can't stand the guy) is 7-2 in his 2nd year. He drained the pool last year and brought in 50 new players, 26 this year. You think we'll be 7-2 next year?I love the way everyone finds the one huge success story and acts like it should be that easy for everyone
At least they used a candle in their shot in the dark coaching search. It’s hard to look at the IU logo and not see Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast View attachment 688562

Not SEC, but they're in the B1G - which normally would be a big deal. But so far, they're not played a single team that is currently ranked in the Top 25. They have Ohio State coming up next after a bye week, but that'll be the only ranked team on their schedule.I can promise you he didn't have a bunch of 4 star players and still doesn't. But also he doesn't play in the SEC. But he has a system that is tried and true. We would be better off if we had hired him and I remember his name was brought up on this board several times. I'm sure we would not be undefeated against our schedule. It's not quite the same. They have not played Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia and Tennessee

MSU, on the other hand, has played 4 Top 25 teams so far, and the remaining 2 games are against currently ranked teams. Chances are good that half our games will be against ranked opponents. That's not an excuse for only winning 2 games, but it makes it slightly more understandable.
Absolutely. The game with Ohio State should be interesting and worth watching.IU is a good team, extremely well coached.
I bet Selmon didn't act alone. Someone in the building or rich alumn said hey our offense is terrible it worked with leach and Mullen having an offensive guy go get your buddy at OU. Without really thinking about what made leach and Mullen unique. Without thinking about Moorhead.Well don't let Salmon know
Does it make it more understandable to get blown out at home against Toledo or losing to Arizona State? How about getting blown out at home by Arkansas, the other nobody from the former SEC West? No way we will know if Cigneti would have beat those 3, but, I just have a feeling with him bringing his entire staff to Starkville, the results from hiring a sitting HC would be remarkably better than hiring Junior High head coaches as assistantsNot SEC, but they're in the B1G - which normally would be a big deal. Well, one thing's for sure - hiring him instead of Lebby wouldn't have been any worse. Would he have come had we offered? Would he still come? Indiana's not exactly a big football name. Best I can tell from a quick search, his salary plus all his bonuses this year is still less than Lebby's base pay. He makes good money, but not much in the current college coaching world.Does it make it more understandable to get blown out at home against Toledo or losing to Arizona State? Welp, you give him another year or two with the same results, and he certainly will be getting paid somewhere!! AU? USC w? Michigan? Penn State? IU (they'll really have to pony up bigtime to keep him there). Think of the movie "Breaking Away".Well, one thing's for sure - hiring him instead of Lebby wouldn't have been any worse.
