Our coaches continually use the reasoning that we have multiple personel packages depending on what play is called that allow certain players to touch the ball or prohibit certain players from getting the touches they want. Then on the other hand, you have coaches (Beamer) being quotes as telling Satterfield to get the best players the ball. Are we putting too much emphasis on personel packages and not just putting the most talented players on the field and allowing them to go make plays? if the personel packages are preventing you from utilizing your best players and from putting the ball in your best players hands, then whats the point? We play games and go the entire game without allowing our better players to play and to stand on the sideline almost the entire game (Bell). Thoughts?

I have no idea. I could probably count on one hand the number of times I've heard coaches say "personal groupings" prior to this year. I've lost count how many times I've heard it this year.

My understanding about the "pro-style" offense is that its benefit is to be able to adjust to and take advantage of anything the defense is doing. And that means a lot of variations in blocking, plays, personal on every down. It is a very complicated system....which is why it is run primarily in the NFL where they have a lot more practice time for all the players to get on the right page with respect to the variations. I believe many colleges who run it use a very watered down version of it.

This is not personal knowledge as I played in the time of the old veer offense.....but in talking with coaches that is basically what I've learned. Maybe someone can explain it better than I.
