Please this thread for all discussions about college FB coaches being fired, being hired, rumors, etc. during and after the 2023 college football season.

I'll keep all the existing threads about coaches that have already been fired, or coaches being rumored for open positions. But I do request that all future posts about this subject go in this thread.

Good for Northwestern. How their interim coach got so many wins out of that team is flat out amazing. He stepped into a real mess.

Northwestern is an interesting story. They were on track for another basement season. I saw their game v Minny. The Gophers were stomping them - big lead in second half. Two key RBs for Minny go down, and then running suddenly slows down. A couple more injuries (in secondary) and turnovers, and suddenly a game. Then NW momentum leads to points and gets game tied - head to OT. NW wins on busted assignment by Minny DBs.

after that, NW was hot. We caught them coming off the Minny game, and you saw what happened - suddenly they had spunk. a lot fell their way after our game.

That makes me sad for Oregon State. Not sure if Smith will translate to the B10, but well worth a shot for MSU. He's done a great job at OR State and I'll miss all of the money he has made me on sports bets.
Smith may make the move, but it wouldn't surprise me if he stays. I believe he was the QB at Oregon State. Maybe the PAC-12 blow-up factors in. I would think he is pretty secure there in terms of expectations, administration, etc...

Yep, former QB and I think he just got a nice extension. They just finished stadium renovations, but like you said, they are without a P5 conference. I think headed to the Mountain West? I really hope he stays and I hope OSU can find a P5 conference (and I hope he doesn't go to MSU!).

Smith better pack his Louie’s for East Lansing . The PAC collapse is a shame for Oregon St and Washington St. They’re going to get picked over .

Syracuse is leaning towards the coach from Holy Cross or perhaps Candle from Toledo. But Diaz may still be in the mix.

aTm is supposedly interested in the UTSA coach.

I'm so disappointed for Oregon State. They were on the rise with a new stadium renovation recently completely and now their whole world collapsed around them in a matter of months. Nothing is a guarantee, but Smith is a very solid hire for MSU. I hate it.

Smart to leave his alma mater to coach against them in the SEC? Delusional. If they offered $15mm-$20mm p.a. to Day he'd be a fool not to take it. aTm would be bigger fools to offer that kind of money.....to anyone.

Mark Stoops is an incredibly blah hire. I think the outrage is going to cause that hire to fall through.

Texas A&M wanted to have a coach in place by the end of this weekend, but time is running out. When the search began on Nov. 12, Texas A&M athletic director Ross Bjork pointed to the opening of the transfer portal — Dec. 4 — as an informal deadline. The Aggies have a top-five roster and would like to hold on to as much of it as possible. Hiring someone in advance of that date so that the new coach could meet with each of the players in hopes of keeping the talent together was paramount. NCAA rules allow players a 30-day window to enter the portal as soon as a coaching change occurs, so A&M players have had a chance to do so since Fisher’s firing, but only one has taken advantage of it thus far. Giving those players clarity before the portal opens for everyone in December was important to A&M’s administration.- The Athletic
They go on to list Leipold, Elko, Fisch, and Elijah Robinson as next man up. IMO they make a hard charge at Day. Why not ? Other than riding RC Slocum, A&M been fire city. And that is now a very expensive proposition.
Franklin is going to be pushing hard to get an OC in place prior to 12/4. Most sexy hire would most def be the BWICAC.

Death, taxes and bitching by the BWICAC. Only sure things in life.
No hire will meet the do not criticize standards of the CAC. My hope is for a choice that brings universal outrage.
I wouldn't dismiss staying status quo.

Death, taxes, and Franklin does no wrong from the FDF. And no hire will justify criticism from the Franklin Defense Force.

Not so different.

Tom Allen out at Indy!

They said they are looking for a new coach in Bloomington. I suggest they expand their search to include the entire country HAHA!
Allen, 53, went 33-49 overall with the Hoosiers and 18-43 in the Big Ten. Indiana ended this season 3-9 after a 35-31 loss to Purdue on Saturday.

His buyout was around $20.8 million guaranteed before Dec. 1, making it the third-largest in college football history.

Coaching salaries only going to be going up. Bruno Mars- Julio get the stretch !
