Excuse me? Are you saying the Cowboys have had more winning seasons than any other franchise since Jerry has taken over or that he's had more winning seasons than losing seasons? If it's the former you're dead wrong. Cowboys have had 16 winning seasons since 1989. Steelers have had 28. I'm sure there are other franchises that have had at least 16 winning seasons since 89.
... said they are a top 5 organization since Jerry took over in virtually every category from divison wins, overall wins, super bowls, playoff apperances, winning seasons... all the way down.

And when he took them over, they werent very good.

must have been going into 2 seasons ago where that stat was floated around dallas.

Go look up playoff appereacnces. winning seasons. super bowls. all the way down.

Besides 319-261 isnt shabby. There are tons of organizations that would trade the last 40 years of dallas history for theirs.

Anyway you want to cut it... Dallas under jerry jones has been very very very successful both on and off the field.... yet hes quick to be blamed for their shortcomings of current... when in reality their best players have come in short in the big moments... both Romo and now Dak.

I see a lot of really bad takes blaming Dak for the Cowboys problems. I often wonder how those people can watch the games and think the running game sucks because of Dak, the offensive line can’t block because of Dak, the defense is as strong as a wet pa sack because of Dak.

Fact is the Cowboys have not been good since Switzer won in 96 with the team Jimmy Johnson helped build. Since 96 the NFC East has constantly been one of the worst divisions in all of football. The Cowboys have benefited from being the best of the worst.

dallas has for sure benefited from late from the divison. That is quickly changing with the super bowl champs inside the divison and the emergences from washington.

Disagree with the team hasnt been good since the 96 team. The cowboys have had 2 13 win teams and 5 12 win teams during since that time. The cowboys superbowl teams only won 12-12-13 regular season games... so to say this team wasnt good or wasnt good enough just isnt true.

Their biggest stars have choked on the biggest stage. Romo in 07 and 14, and Dak virtually every season in the playoffs has underachieved and under performed.

The window to win as closed. Theyve got huge cap problems. The only way the cowboys can win now is for Dak to play to what is contract is worth... which (was) the highest paid in the league.... and play like the best QB in the league.. and hes not.. and Dak simply doesnt have that ability. However there was a 5-6-7 year stretch in there where Dak had plenty of talent around him, from wideouts, to running game, to line... where the cowboys straight up didnt get it done...and Dak was a big part of that not getting it done and probably the biggest reason why it didnt get done.

Dak has been the sole reason he has kept the Cowboys a float the last 4 years. 3 straight 12-5 years and he does down, you see what happens. Dak LOS on both sides of the ball has been one of the worst in NFL for several years now. They do not prioritize in the big guys, hence, why they can't run the ball, nor block... They've only had edge rushers and DB's that gamble, create turnovers but also are suspect for giving up the big play. But yeah, it's all Dak's fault 😂

Nearly ever team whose QB gets paid as much as Dak does... if they go down... the team goes down with it. There is hardly a team in the NFL that can lose their starter and continue status quo.. so that arugment is nothing... besides Dak was 3-5 BEFORE the injury, and had a QBR in the 40s.. which is backup material... so its not like he was keeping them afloat... they went 3-5 with dak and 4-5 without dak.

Dallas has had a top 10 defense 3 of the last 4 seasons.. in terms of scoring.. and top 5 two of those seasons

The 2023 team had 3 ALL-PRO lineman on it... in 2021 dallas had the best offensive line in football. Theyve been at or near the top 5 in the years leading up to that and after that until this past season.

More dumb takes

The BIGGEST shocker on the win list is the Saints checking in at #12. Is that correct?

The Cowboys NFCCG drought preceded Dak. Same reason Romo, another very good QB couldn’t win there. Jimmy Johnson built the Cowboys success while Jerry was getting business side straightened out and was less involved in football operations. Switzer was just right place right time. Since Jerry has been involved in day to day football operations you see what the results have been.
We can go all day Hunt.

I’ll give you this, for as wrong as you often are you don’t lack for confidence in your takes. I can respect that.
Dak was 2 years old the last time Dallas played in the NFCCG. So yeah, it's fair to blame him for it. **

And do you know why Dak is so marketable? Because there is no more marketable position in all of sport than being a long-time Cowboy QB.
Dak would be very marketable anywhere. Of course he's more marketable in Dallas than he would be anywhere else. But he'd be more marketable in pretty much every other NFL city than the QB who is there.

Jerry has had his hand in the football side of things from day one.

This is something the Jerry haters cant handle. The Cowboys during Jerry Jones tenure are one of the top 5 organzations in ALL of football. 3 super bowls. More winning seasons.... if you dont believe it, go look it up. He's in the pro football HOF.

As much as people want to point the finger at him... heres the reality. He's been very successful in doing things his way, both on and off the field.

He's attempted to build this thing around Dak for years. And he's tried it every way possible. Again contrary to what this board thinks... Witten was solid when Dak arrived. Cooper was an all-pro. He added Lamb with the only high draft pick he had. The OL has had 3 hall of fame fixtures on it for the majority of Daks time there, and was rated inside the top 5 6 straight years. Hes had the best D in football one season...... the one constant thru all that is Dak.... and Dak has figured out a way to choke when the light shines brighest. People want to blame Jerry for that... and thats plain crazy.

And whats even worse is you have a guy like Josh Allen who can run circles around Dak, and Cool Joe in Cincy.. taking less money for the people around em.... and Dak holding out for every last penny.

Again Jerry has 3 super bowl.... until Dak has more than 3 playoff wins.. he shoulders a huge load as to why there hasnt been the success over the last few years.

Life long cowboy fan. Live in Dallas for half my life. Probably know more than this entire board does on the ins and outs of the cowboys... Dak isnt the only reason why.. but hes a big reason... and the cowboys would have been wise to let him walk or call his bluff and see if he really wanted to sign a deal with Las Vegas
I don't blame Dak for holding out for every penny. He knows that if he were to give Jerral the Hometown hero discount, Jerral would just squander the money on a receiver and Running back, instead of addressing the needs of the team.

its not all his fault..

However the last 8 years or so the window to win was there.. and the cowboys had some very good teams and very talented teams.... and they choked every one of those chances away in the playoffs... and Dak played very poorly in those games.

What happened last year or in the coming years isnt his fault. He wont have the talent and hes not good enough to elevate the players around him.... and his contract will be a major hinderance to being able to put those playesr around him...... Dallas should have let him walk, or signed him to a more team friendly deal...

2017 - Team choked. But offense put up over 400 yards and 31 points. This one is on defense mostly.
2019 - Lost as the lower seed. Performed as expected.
2022 - Team and Dak choked.
2023 - Lost as the lower seed. Performed as expected.
2024 - Team choked. But Dak threw for over 400 yards and scored 32 points, but did throw 2 picks. Defense gave up 48 points.

Overall, Dak does share some of the blame for the lack of postseason wins, but there's plenty to go around the entire rest of the roster too.

2016. Dak and the offense were brutal the entire first half... after being a good offense all year. Game was over at half time. Dak and company padded stats at games end to make things appear better than they were

2018- agree

2021- utter choke job in which daks QBR was in the 30s. Thats hard to even phanthom... and lets not even talk about the game ending slide that a high school QB knew better than

2022- the game against SF wasnt even close to performed as expected. He threw two costly picks

2023- He threw a pick/6 1st play of the game-- then after team battled back and got their way back into the game the threw another one-- his QBR again was in the 40s whcih is backup material play... when your QB gift wrapped 14 to the opponent and cant even manage to play above a backup level standard.. it aint on the team.

Again plenty of reason yes. But there have been two constants during the entire tenure. The QB and the Owner. If you want to blame the owner, OK, but hes been successful. The QB has yet to live up to the billing it matters...when the owner has won more superbowls than the QB has won playoff games... its an issue and that aint the owners fault

by stats that measure QB play alone.. Dak has started 7 playoff games and gone 2-5... in those games Dak has
1 game of high level play
1 game of above average play
2 games of average play
1 game of bad play
2 games of absolutley trash go get someone out of the stands and they can play better games.

I’ve posted it here before Kurt Warner’s game study of the loss to the Packer’s in the playoffs. The main takeaway was the people designing the plays are not good at what they do. Dak made the correct reads. Only one pic was because the defender made a great play. The rest were poorly designed plays that never stood a chance.

When was the last time Jerry made a meaningful move in free agency to help with problem areas? Key word meaningful. If I remember correctly the Cowboys have had the most, or close to the most money available for free agents the last 2 years.

He's done really well in the draft especially for a team that never has a high draft pick. He's also made trades when need be to fill major holes, like the one when he landed cooper.

Cowboys have been locked in money wise for the last year or so becuase theyve known theyve had to finalize the dak situation, then Lamb, now Parsons.... i dont know if its changed due to the free agency period or not, but there was a time this year dallas had more money already committed to the cap than any other team in football for the next few years.

yep. My artcile is about 3 weeks later.

Media can spin circles around things cant they?

Again the cowboys are at a crossroads... they are having to re-tool and reshuffle things to do Daks massive contract followed by Lambs, and the looming one in Parsons.

The window for them to win is closed. Other teams in the divison are better and now younger as well. They had to keep Dak and lessen the talent around him... or let dak walk and keep the talented roster around a cheaper QB. They chose Dak.... well see how it plays out, but they wont put a team as talented as any of the last 5 on the field anytime in the near future... even with free agency....

Meaning the only avenue to success is Dak playing at the level his contract was valued... and winning with less talent hes had in the past as well...not laying eggs when it matters most

The Cowboys have been in the top 10 the last 2 years in available cap space. Only falling to 11 3 years ago. Dak’s contract is just an excuse. There’s room.
