Honestly... I don't think either of those coaches leaving was Cohen's fault and I don't think his relationship with either was the reason they left.

You can knock Cohen for a number of things. Mullen and Vic leaving aren't in that list though.

Vic leaving had to do with a different relationship...
Assuming the scissoring rumors were true, how many posters here would've tried their best to handle that situation internally and hoped for the best? I sure would be tempted. They were former teammates and friends. Not like a traditional authority figure commingling with players. Maybe I'm naive

Yeah but when someone gets a promotion and becomes a boss their relationships should change

I don't disagree with that. I just wonder what steps, if any, were taken to end the relationship without losing our coach
Fair question but from what I have heard Cohen was in the right and Vic overreacted

Loved Vic but he could be tough to deal with at times. That’s a very hard headed man who would have napalmed every other sports facility on campus if he thought it would help women’s basketball. He was very protective of his program. I don’t know exactly what happened in the end but I could easily see a scenario where Vic took his ball and left if he felt like Cohen was questioning something about his program.

You would make a great administrator at Baylor.

They did try to work it out. They were warned about the situation before things broke down. I'm not a Cohen fan but I can't beat him up for this. He had to get that licked.

I would have done everything possible to keep Vic on staff. If there was no compromise, then I understand Vic making his move. Wish he hadn't though.

In.

If Johnnie Harris had been shoplifting the pootie, it would have been quite different.

I don't think that is realistic. If a man and woman are coworkers dating seriously and one gets a promotion to become the others boss then they are seriously expected to just stop the romantic involvement even though they already have feelings for each other? That situation should have to be worked differently than if the relationship began inappropriately. Regardless, Cohen should have handled that situation better but I don't see him trying to work anything out given his hardheaded personality. Its that personality that I think will make him a short timer at Auburn.

Not the same situation. Legally very much different if one party is a student...doesn't matter about ages.

A ton of companies have policies in place that prevent relationships between supervisors and subordinates, regardless of when the relationship began.

If somebody gets promoted then generally their significant other has to transfer to another department (or resign). It’s not just because of the power dynamic in the relationship, it’s to prevent favoritism and dissension with others in the department and mitigate issues if/when the relationship goes south.
