Does Polk's behavior, which has always been puzzling, but is now just over the top, raise questions about McMahon's departure and Ron's return?

head coach could have affected his decision...it's not impossible that it didn't. He may have wanted Raffo to get the job so he could continue to do the same thing. Mc was (is) too nice of a guy to confront him on that kind of thing...not saying that's why Mc left but it could have been a deterrent to him staying. We'll probably never know.

raffo wouldn't have been able to do things the way he wanted with polk around, and i'm sure cohen doesn't want polk around all the time, either. polk wanted to hand over the keys to the car, but he still wanted to ride shotgun.

but he still wanted to ride shotgun.
and this is exactly why i think he is so upset. it has nothing to do with his loyalty to raffo or the players or msu. it has everything to do with the fact that his power is not going to be slowly phazed out like he wanted. he is going from being in total control of the program to no control.

i have said for a while now that i think he wouldn't have decided to retire if he hadn't thought the the hire of raffo would happen....because raffo would be his way to continue to be highly involved without having to take the pressure of playing in the sec anymore. i am not sure if he had this in mind for the entire 2nd term at state but i wouldn't put it past him. (watch out for my black helicopters on this one)

Mac got stolen from us because of their ability to get him back home. If that is not the case (which it sounds like it isn't), please do tell what problems preceded Mac's departure.

The way I understood things was 1. Mac resigns and announces he has a job at Florida plus his wife wanted to be close to her family or something it wasn't "I'm resigning and then looking for a job" 2. Polk was still coach at UGA when this happened. 3. Polk resigns and takes MSU job again and inherits a team with 21 pitchers and very few position players.

Now if we would have hired Raffo I would say most definitely a big distraction but I don't see how it affected Mac at all.

chance to hang around the State dugout for at least two years before taking the job at Georgia, I believe.

These people are freinds of mine and some **** you just don't talk about other that to say that the first question was way off base. What i will say is that he made a few mistakes and that is why he hauled *** to fla. Buy the way Mac will more than likely be named at UCF in the next few days.

No matter what he did short of winning the CWS he could never live up to the Legend in the eyes of some fans. The ironic thing is his tenure was far, far more successful than Polk II. Was that the man reason? I don't think so, but it did play a part.

Mac was adding too much "color" to the team...

Absolutely.... I walked on for baseball and coach Mac gave us all a speech about how much Polk would appreciate if we went up and introduced ourselves. He was sitting in the first-base dugout during try-outs. I have to say that it was a little odd, but didn't think much of it at the time.

first couple of years. Who knows but, was he still running our program from 400 miles away while at the same time taking UGA to the world series? Sounds like black helicopters to me.
