Flag!I once sat next to a guy wearing an absolutely beautiful watch, exquisite. I greatly admired it but I could never wear something like that, it’s just not me.
Show off.Similar to me. I never had a collection that big, but I owned two Patek Philippe models. I greatly regret selling my Nautilus 3710/a in steel. That’s a $100k watch now. I paid $9k for it brand new years ago.
I also loved my Blancpain Leman perpetual calendar chronograph in steel. I wore that daily for about 12 years and can’t think of a good reason why I sold it.
My current collection is simple. I have my great-grandfather’s 1951 Omega pre-Constellation. He bought it at Tiffany in NYC and it has the Tiffany stamp on the dial. My daily wear is a Rolex GMT Master II “Batman” that I snagged from my AD at retail. That was a major coup. I also have a rare 1968 Heuer Dato 12 2547 NS with the famed Valjoux 72C movement. That’s a rare bird to come across and if you like vintage racing, it’s even more fun.
PS: shame you sold that Rolex Daytona. That’s the one. My absolute grail is a vintage manual wind Daytona. 6263 or similar from that era.
I would love to wear and collect watches think they are super cool but I just hate it on my wrist it bugs me.I once sat next to a guy wearing an absolutely beautiful watch, exquisite. I greatly admired it but I could never wear something like that, it’s just not me.
Which TAG Heuer do you have?I have about eight watches, and only one is relatively expensive (Tag Heuer, but it was a gift). I do have a skeleton watch, which shows all the gears in action, and it is a nice conversation piece when I am out and about.
I also have a pocket watch that I wear when I am wearing a vest for a formal event. I have to admit, it's kind of cool to bring it out, flip it open and check the time.
Weird thing though - when I am at work in front of the computer, I cannot wear the watch - so it goes in a drawer. But, when I leave the office for lunch, a meeting, or at the end of the day, I put on the watch before I leave my desk.
I probably wear my Bat Girl (jubilee bracelet) that I got at retail from my AD the most. I would then say my blue face roman numeral Datejust second (my first rolex, will probably never sell it).Similar to me. I never had a collection that big, but I owned two Patek Philippe models. Great watches. I went back and forth on the jubilee bracelet. It’s worth a bit more on the secondary market, but I prefer the classic oyster look on an everyday watch.I probably wear my Bat Girl (jubilee bracelet) that I got at retail from my AD the most. I also wear a G-Shock, love that watch.
I will have to look when I get home - it was a gift for my 50th.Which TAG Heuer do you have?
If it's an everyday wear, the Jubilee is a little harder to clean. The oyster can show scratches easier. 50/50 callGreat watches. I went back and forth on the jubilee bracelet. It’s worth a bit more on the secondary market, but I prefer the classic oyster look on an everyday watch.
First world problem, but the polished center links in the newer oyster bracelets are scratch magnets. That’s a nice thing about the Submariner bracelet. It’s all matte and won’t show scratches as easily. If it's an everyday wear, the Jubilee is a little harder to clean. The oyster can show scratches easier. 50/50 call
I have a SS/gold sub with the serti dial. Nice watch, I'll pass on to my son someday. See if you can find a pic with the watch's nipples excitedly protruding.I’ll see what I can come up with.
