They gave up some Rams-esqe amount of picks to move up to get Lance. They didn't trade Jimmy G and he's still been good enough to be there. Now they have Purdy, who played just good enough to throw another wrench into things.

Unless they go get Devante Adams to go along with him, I think you stay away from Aaron Rodgers. And then you are probably 2 seasons away from sucking after all you have to sacrifice to get them. If you think you can win a Super Bowl doing this, well, yeah. Build it.
Shanny has to be all in next year. He won’t survive a regression season unless he finds his long term QB. They’re a flawed roster and that won’t age well.

Just remember, Philadelphia beat Washington in the Body-Bag game, a regular season game, but the Redskins beat the Eagles in the playoffs that same year.

As an aside, Brian Mitchell played quarterback in college at Louisiana, was a very good college quarterback. Antwaan Randel El was a good comparison.

His college stats are noteworthy.

Pretty sure there is an impressive stat about the Eagles winning and/or covering spreads with/without him.

It took me a few hours to process my disappointment over not just that Niners loss, but the farcical way in which it unfolded. A few thoughts:

1. First, congratulations to the Eagles. They are a good team, and will make a worthy Super Bowl participant.
2. That game was essentially over the moment Brock Purdy was injured. (Niners management suspects he tore his ulnar collateral ligament, which is important given that it apparently connects his humerus to his ulna.) Unfortunately, that occurred on the Niners' very first offensive possession of the game, That immediately put them behind the eight ball.
3. The Niners were left with their fourth string QB, Josh Johnson, who promptly demonstrated whey he was a fourth string quarterback. The fumble and resulting gift TD really sealed the outcome.
4. But what turned the game into an outfight FARCE was when Johnson was himself injured on a play that looked eerily similar to the play that put Purdy out of the game.
5. No one has to tell me that "injuries are part of the game" in the NFL. Everyone knows that injury is an occupational hazard, but losing two QB's in the first half of any game, much less the CCG, is a bit too much for any team to overcome. (Johnson went out a few moments into the second half, so close enough.) After Johnson went out, it was obvious that the Niners could not pass the ball, at all, and the Eagles not surprisingly brought 7 defenders up into the box. I'll not soon forget the absurd spectacle of Christian McCaffrey having his helmet outfitted with a radio transmitter and being given a wrist band with part of the team's playbook in it, as if he was gonna be an honest to goodness QB..
6. The remaining three and a half quarters of the game were akin to a boxing match where one boxer has an arm tied behind his back. If I'm an Eagles fan, I'll gladly take the win and the resulting Super Bowl berth, but it was hardly a true contest. We've seen what the Eagles can do with their SECOND string QB (Minshew) at the helm, and that's lose to the Giants and Cowboys. Eagles fans should be praying that Hurts does not get hurt in the Super Bowl, and that Mahomes' ankle injury is not fully healed, or that they can repeat the feat of putting the opponent's starting QB out of the contest.
7. I actually like the Eagles (and in particular, Hurts, Sanders and Kelce), except when they are playing the Niners. Eagles fans, not so much. I am a bit torn about which team to root for in the Super Bowl.
Nice scumbag back handed compliment in #1. You basically repeated it in more detail in #6.
Please root for the Chiefs. We don’t need a scumbag like you rooting for the Eagles.
Until Monday, I never realized what a cry baby pissy pants fan base is the 49er crew.

Yep...can hear it now...Mahomes is the greatest player to have ever played. He single-handedly beat the Bengals and on one leg. He's different, special, no one is remotely close to his ability. When the Eagles beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, all we will hear is how Mahomes was hurt, the injury caught up to him, the young players on D couldn't bail out the offense, the Eagles didn't win, the Chiefs lost, blah, blah, blah. Tired of everyone putting an asterisk next to the Eagles as if everything they accomplished this year was given to them rather than earned. I hope they win 60- 3 in this freaking game and leave no doubt, but even then the asterisk flingers will be out in full force I'm sure.

We'll also never know if the Eagles could have knocked out a third QB because SF only had 2 on the roster.
As does pretty much every NFL team. We're talking about the game day roster here. Ian Book is technically on the Eagles' roster, but I'm pretty sure he is not on the Eagles game day roster. The Eagles stunk without Hurts in there. Imagine the aroma if they had been without both Hurts and Minshew. The absurdity of watching a team try to play without a legitimate quarterback has already prompted calls for reinstatement of the NFL's "three quarterback rule." Who knows if that will happen?

"Scumbag?" The offer of congratulations was unqualified. An NFL game featuring one team without a legit quarterback is, in fact, a farce. If you choose to read that as criticizing the Eagles, then pardon me, snowflake.

If you want something to cry about, let me give you some unvarnished fact. The Eagles fan base is well known for having a large component of childish and churlish fans. Witness the last Niners-Eagles game at the Linc prior to Sunday's game, which I attended. The Niners won, of course. The game began with the Eagles scoring first, and the predictable shouts of "pussies and f*gs" from Cali. Then, as the Niners caught up, Eagles fans went from booing the Niners and their fans to booing the refs. Later, as the Niners' victory became a certainty, the Eagles fans commenced booing their own team. Nice.

It probably comes from having to watch one of the least successful franchises in NFL history. The Eagles were founded in 1933, and have a total of four (4) NFL championships (1948, 1949, 1960, and 2017). That puts them even with the mighty Detroit Lions. The Eagles have a grand total of one (1) Super Bowl title. The 49ers have five (5). I'll grant that the Niners have not won a Super Bowl in a while, as their last Super Bowl win was 28 years ago, in 1994. So if they go another 28 years without winning a Super Bowl, they will match the Eagles' remarkable record of futility, 56 years without winning a championship.

And I'll take you up on your offer. I will be rooting for the Chiefs.

Ian Book was on the 53 man roster vs SF.
Google is your friend. Viz.:

How many NFL players are active on game Day 2022?

Throughout the summer, the roster sizes expand but must be cut down to 53 players by Week 1. Each week in preseason also has a cut deadline. Forty-six players are active on game day, and ten players can be kept on the practice squad.

What’s your point?? You can have as many QB active on game day as you want. For example the Bengals had 3 QBs active for the KC game

The 3 quarterback rule should be reinstated.

Well, my intent in the post that caught me some flack here was to make two essential points:

1. To offer congratulations to the Eagles; and
2. To offer my opinion that the NFC championship game turned into a farce when both of the Niners' QB's were injured, with one being unable to play at all and the other being unable to throw the ball.

I didn't intend that second point to be a criticism of the Eagles. The hits that put Purdy and Josh Johnson out of the game were legit. Injuries happen. The Eagles benefitted from that, but there is nothing inherently wrong with that. Had those hits on Purdy and Johnson been late or excessive, I would have felt otherwise, but they weren't. I DO wish that Purdy and/or Johnson had not gotten injured. The game would certainly have been more competitive had that happened.

As for carrying more than two QB's on any given game day roster, most NFL teams do not do that. Rare is the occasion when a single team suffers the loss of two QB's in a single game. It will be interesting to see if the Niners carry three QB's on their 46 player game day roster next season. Their interest in avoiding a repeat of this occurrence may induce them to do so, but it has been a rare occurrence, indeed.

A few folks on this Board felt that I was throwing shade on the Eagles by claiming the game turned into a farce. That was not my intent, but I cannot stop them from drawing whatever conclusions they wish to draw. It went downhill from there with comments about "scumbags" and "sissy pants," but at this point, it's all water under the bridge. Eagles fans should be focusing on the upcoming Big Game,. Like other Niners fans, I am now hoping that Brock Purdy is able to recover fully from his injury and resume what looked like a promising career. And/or that Trey Lance proves to be worth the draft picks and money that the Niners invested in him.

It is in place currently
Actually, it is not. Instead of reinstating that three quarterback rule, the NFL expanded game day rosters from 45 to 46. Most teams continued to use 2 game day QB's, and devote the extra player to another position. That may change. The QB is by far the most important position, and the debacle of a team playing in a conference championship game without the ability to pass has already spurred calls for reinstatement of the three quarterback rule, but with some modifications to simplify its operation.

It is , you can have as many QBs on your game day roster as you choose. You could have 15 if you wanted. The Bengals had 3 up for their game. I wonder the Eagles will do for the Superbowl

Well said. i think most of the consternation came from the giants game thread where you came in and started $h!T talking a week before the game, then in your concession speech everything was backhanded.

BUT

water under the bridge man.

As a diehard eagles fan, I was absolutely excited at the end of the first half that we went up 21-7. Then when Johnson went out and Purdy came back in and clearly couldn’t throw the ball, the first thing I said to my wife was “not like this. Not this way”. And I felt horrible for the 9ers D. As a fan during the chip Kelly days, I know what it’s like to have a gassed D on the field. I wanted a 1’s v 1’s game (say what you will, Purdy was the game day 1). But here we are. I’m interested to see what happens with the 9ers QB situation next year. i think they let lance and Purdy battle it out in camp. Lance deserves a shot but his injury history is worrisome. I can see lance starting the season but being on a short leash.
