Wanted to jump in here because I agree that Poindexter should be ready for the job if he was paying attention at all during Manny's tenure. Lost on the glow of Manny's success is the fact that Poindexter made our secondary angry tacklers in the spirit of Mark Robinson, Kim Herring and the like we long time Lions fans expect. It was good to see him do that and having the opportunity to witness Manny's style, judgement and sense of timing should have prepared Poindexter.Poindexter as DC and Dan Conner as LB coach.
Now about Manny...you can't really argue with the results this year and that he kept us in the national discussion. In his 25 games, I think he really only blew it against Meatchicken last year (24-1) and he maximized the talent he had. But more than that, he personified what it means to make the most of a second chance. He picked himself up like a real man and made something of himself with class after being made a scape goat in Miami so they could hire Cristobal. I like that he took the Duke job, especially if he rounded himself out as a head coach from what he learned at PSU. If he beats Miami on the regular at Duke it will be the coldest dish of revenge served in college football.
Congratulations Manny, all the best, thanks for your service at the greatest university on the planet.
