It’s been almost 30 years since Nebraska got the Natty over us. They have endured some awful recent football and it didn’t bother me a bit. Matt has made me think that they have suffered enough and I think I can let a lot of that go 😜
Hard to not root for him

He has too much class for Michigan.
He had some really diplomatic comments after the B1G’s coaches call today. I suspect he jammed the new commish as much as anyone in the room. I think OSU is working the scUM cheating thing behind the scenes.

I have no idea what PSU and Franklin are doing

Hopefully game planning for Maryland…..but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Locker rooms speeches are great for the fans and make for good social media content. In the meantime, they have the 25th ranked recruiting class in the country, which also happens to be 7th in the Big Ten when you add in future members.

Always been a Matt Rhule fan. I wouldn't mind if he replaced Franklin but can he recruit like Franklin?

Yeah I agree. Frankly, I think showing locker room speeches is stupid but there are certainly enough coaches who permit it.

It's coaching as performance art. I know athletic departments and social media departments think it adds a level of authenticity to their otherwise bland coaches. But I find it kind of hokey and these coaches come off looking more like Herbs than badasses.

Ruhle was the guy I wanted when the Franklin to anywhere else talk was going on.

Rhule will build a solid foundation. I think he will bring Nebraska back to 7,8 and perhaps 9 win level. I see him as a sort of throw back guy in a profession that has surrendered to glitz and glamor. Honest, sincere, and old school principles. I hope there is still a place for guys like him at or near the top. I only wonder how he plays with today's 4 and 5 star athlete. Not a knock, just curious. In any event, he's one of Joe's boys and an example of his legacy. I'm glad that no matter what, he and his family will never have a financial worry. I wish him well, except vs. PSU.

It's an odd amount of respect for a coach with a career record of 52-46.
He rebuilt 2 downtrodden programs and is on his way to 3. Not every great coaching job ends with a championship.

Just spent two days with a couple of Big Red guys from Omaha... they tell me prevailing opinion is "if he gets us into a bowl game in year one we should build a status of him".
It's possible for sure, but the B1G West is so awful that it may really be possible. MSU, Wisky, Iowa, and UMD left on his schedule and none are sure fire losses IMO. Starting next year that schedule may have a few more bumps in the road for him, but he's doing ok so far there.
