Thoughts?

10. Kurt Cobain - Nirvana
9. Chris Cornell - Soundgarden
8. John Lennon - The Beatles
7. Eddie Vedder - Pearl Jam
6. Roger Daltry - The Who
5. Jim Morrison - The Doors
4. Mick Jagger - The Rolling Stones
3. Bono - U2
2. Freddie Mercury - Queen
1. Robert Plant - Led Zeppelin

Not sure what is meant by 'best' but it covers a lot of ground. For me, it's not all about singing chops - it's more presence, gravitas, swagger, and sure, skills. Metal is totally ignored (Ozzy? Hetfield? Vince Neil?). Some shockers - no Axl Rose or Scott Weiland. I think Chris Cornell probably shouldn't be in the Top Ten; Jim Morrison too (career too short). I'd find a spot for Morrissey (Smiths), and maybe one for Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode) and/or Mike Patton (Faith No More). Noel Gallagher (Oasis) may be one of the greatest of all time but no idea who you else you cut here. And I'd swap Vedder and Bono.
No David Byrne? I mean c'mon?

That poll was from 2011.

Regardless ... this list needs some more diversity ...

Charlie Wilson
Prince (of "and the Revolution")
George Clinton
K-Ci
Michael Jackson
Diana Ross
Smokey Robinson
Lionel Ritchie
Gladys Knight
Sly Stone
Corey Glover
Morris Day
Justin Timberlake

Love the list but also hearing what an a-hole C Rob was for so many years soured me on him. He seems to be over that hump but boy did he love himself.

Can’t stand Steve Perry. The sound of his voice (and maybe even more so, the sight of him) can produce an instant bad mood for me.

Bono…LOL. I’d have put Henry Rollins in there for his Black Flag days.
I love U2 but don't feel Bono is a great singer. I guess one needs to define the word "singer". If it is the number of hits and longevity, Mick takes the trophy. If it is vocal capability, David Lee Roth and Steve Perry need to be on the list. Probably Steven Tyler too. Is Journey a rock band? If not, are the Beatles? And while I like Freddie Mercury, I don't think he really had great vocal stylings. If a one-timer counts, how about h-ha lead singer Morton Harket who shows tremendous range in the song "Take Me On".

Did David Lee Roth have good vocal capabilities?

If it comes down to chops, I’m not a huge Styx fan but Dennis Deyoung had some good ones.
