I have to guess this signals that next year is more important than polishing the turd that is this year.

There had to be some kind of confrontation between the two.
The conversation;
JF “What in the heck stupid plays are you calling”.
MY “The ones you told me to”.
JF “Who called those fourth down shots, and who called the stupid two point trick conversions”.
MY “You did”.
JF “You’re fired for listening to me, let that be a lesson for you. Where’s the running back coach JS”?
JF“Right here coach”.
JF “Are you renting or buying your home”?
JS “Renting”.
JF “Good you’re the new OC, and don’t get any bright ideas”.

Surprised to see this today, but not really surprised it’s happened I suppose.
Honestly, I guess I really don’t care that much. I’m pretty disenchanted with Franklin right now.

The development or lack of with Drew is enough to let M. Y go. Franklin claims that he is the CEO. I wonder how much or how little freedom M. Y had
This is not the first time M.Y. Has been let go Texas and OSU and OK state come to mind.
I think their was tension this season that came to a boiling point after yesterday

Franklin goes through ALOT more offensive coordinators than defensive coordinators which makes me think his (Franklin's) involvement in the offense is part of the issue. With the average tenure of an offensive coordinator under Franklin, not sure if any established coordinator would be interested unless they enter it knowing it's a short term arrangement.
So if he does get involved too much, then it’s his fault. If he allows his OC to make the decisions and they do poorly and he fires them, then it’s his fault. Saban has gone through as many OC’a as Franklin in the same amount of time, is Saban too involved?

Although lauded for his explosive plays, the number of times the QB/RB seemed to get tackled at the mesh point for a loss or no gain seemed a significant issue. Of course maybe the oline issues at the time had something to do with that.
Let’s hold out til we can find the guy that has an offense that gets at least 5 or 6 yards on every running play, gets long and short passes completed with equal regularity, has massive amounts of explosive plays, and never has a three and out. Let’s find that guy, they’re obviously all over college football.

CJF keeps this up, it also can backfire on the guy in which nobody will want to be hired by PSU because it won't be worthwhile even moving to State College because CJF will get you fired before you get your mail address changed. Who wants to work for a boss who will gladly screw you in public when he makes the dumb mistakes and the crowd starts calling for accountability.

Makes me wonder if Allar and/or Singleton/Allan had some tough conversations this morning.

A necessary move at this point, BUT…

We weren’t able to beat OSU/UM since before Yurcich got here. Furthermore, the offense was bland, predictable and ineffective before Yurcich got here. I mean… not as bad as this year, certainly, but it hasn’t been particularly dynamic unless there’s been a first-round NFL draft pick shouldering the load.

The common denominator is… something else.

who was the guy they were interested in when the MY was hired? I thought there was a guy who had been a GA at Penn State and had been QB coach at LSU helping Burrow.

overall the play calling in some games have not helped the QBs. The RBs being hit in the backfield has been going on for years long before MY. That is one of the reasons the JF offense needs QB who can also run.

The in-game decisions = not kicking PATs and going on 4th and 6 at your own 30 were killers. Not sure we can put that on MY. The same in-game 4th down call at tOSU killed any chance we had.
With the lack of in game production and execution by the Offense some of his bonehead decisions might not have been made. Obviously MY was not the answer.

Love this Franklin move: the enemy is both strong and weak. Too weak to make our offense better, but too strong for me to do anything about it until now. Please.

Fired the wrong person. I can't remember the game but one of the announcers said something along the lines of Franklin has to reign in Yurcich because wants to pass alot.

Both of the last two coordinators were considered really good. They come here and both run the same bland two runs and a pass offense. What didn't change in that time? The head coach.

He is great Sunday thru Friday. Sucks on Saturdays.

True both Saban and Franklin have had several OC’s. The significant difference is that Saban’s usually leave for a head coaching position. James OC’s usually go out the door looking for work other than two exceptions.

While Yurcich isn't the only problem for PSU, he was a problem. He was way too pass happy. He always found an excuse to throw the ball even when the running game was working. Look at Michigan yesterday, they didn't pass the ball once in the 2nd half because they were able to run the ball.

There's some really good stuff on the pay site. @NateBauer has been on fire since game end yesterday. It's definitely worth a month subscription to check it out.
I let my subscription run out and was debating renewing. Like Nate a lot. Now I’ll have to renew for a month to read. Ha. Thanks for the heads up.

I was not expecting this today, but if Franklin actually calls out a coordinator in a press conference then you know that guy’s job is not lasting much longer.
