That might be a combination that would work? At this point, Franklin’s game day coaching does not seem like it will be suffice. But a good admin and PR person and anyone would be better than Sandy.

So who’s taking a huge pay decrease in this scenario. Sandy is very well paid by AD standards, but she makes about 20% what Franklin does.

There’s no world where PSU football generates enough to pay an AD and coach $18 million a year.

Coach Franklin just brought in a 6th ranked recruiting class. A man of character who runs a very clean program. He is poised to have a much improved season next year.

Room for improvement: Stop treating your staff like they are immediate family. Create firm parameters and milestones at every coaching level with potential consequences. This in time will vastly improve the team’s performance.

A bit off topic from the original post. I have said before, when Coach ends his coaching career, IMHO he would be an outstanding commissioner of any conference or even the NFL. CJF pays a lot of attention to, and studies, emerging issues, and he is usually a little bit ahead of the curve in identifying rules, regulations, etc, that need to be changed. You can see that now in his push to have the Big drop to 8 conference games. I think he would be excellent in such a role; far better than they guy currently serving as Big Commissioner.

Franklin will make a great used car salesman when he is no longer coaching. OBVIOUSLY

Most of Franklin’s salary is not paid by the university. I’m sure if he goes for AD the same thing would happen. I agree he is a better administrator than coach.

Gene Smith is the B1G Commissioner. He made that clear in his statements this week.

Gene Smith doesn't even run OSU football. he's just a mouthpiece.

Not abundantly clear that "The Alliance" would be beneficial to the Big Ten. Probably just a knee jerk reaction to SEC expansion.

Seems to be settling in as a .500 coach with teams that lack toughness.

Of course what I proposed in our in the sky. A more realistic alternative would be Franklin being dismissed outright. He has underperformed and team play on field, where games are won, is regressing.

That said, Franklin sees like a good guy and perhaps he would make a good AD. Again, could anyone be worse than Sandy?

Ok genius, what in that post is off base? Franklin is a good in-game coach? Better in admin part of coaching than game day? Sandy a great AD?

He’s been there since 2014…is this a papal appointment?

This is far more realistic than your original post. But it will be a LONG TIME before PSU can even entertain canning Franklin for anything less than just cause. That whopper 10 year extension made sure of it.

Makes perfect sense. Franklin gives up 8 or 9 million a year for a 1 million per annum desk job.

What’s hate? Sandy has proven to be a spend-happy incompetent at two major institutions. She should be immediately terminated.

Who said it should make sense to Franklin? At most instititions he would have been fired either outright after the Illinois game last year or immediately after the season. He is underachieving and the team is in. downward spiral?

But what does Penn State (Sandy) do? Sign him to a ten year extension. She should have been terminated immediately for that negotiation debacle.

Why - because people are calling for Franklin after 8 years?

Let’s give Matt five years. I would bet dimes to donuts that Penn State will not get bullied around their home field by Illinois. Or make egregious mental errors. l - starting in year 1.

Okay, "let's" propose something as if "we" are the decision makers and that will never happen.

Hmmm, so Sandy is solely responsible for CJF's contract extension.....and no one else (BOT subcommittee on compensation) had to approve?
