Crap call that fouled out Brown. That hurt. Bad defense by Verdonk and GG down the stretch
Agreed. That one was right there for the taking.Crap call that fouled out Brown. That hurt. Bad defense by Verdonk and GG down the stretch
No…a loss is not a loss when you are a struggling team! It gave HOPE for the future when you stay in the game with the number #2 team in the nation.Well, Miller obviously wasn't distracted, lol.
Loss is a loss. Oh well.
I see what you did there.Great effort tonight, the other team brought a gun to a knife fight and we still almost pulled it off.

I thought about last night. Man was it frustrating watching miller! Some of those fouls were junk too.Was probably the best effort we have seen this season. Miller goes career for 41 and we still take the #2 team in the country to OT.
Long way from the team that lost in the CLA to A&M by 41 points.
Know this - as a season ticket holder this game was exactly what we want to see this program become and with Coach Paris , he gets a couple of recruiting class and the portal behind him and I expect people will be very happy we have him as the head coach.
That is Spurrier’s opinion. My thoughts…I am proud of the game our team played against the number #2 team in the nation. We are a struggling team and that was a positive game for us! Of course we did not win…but we never gave up!![]()

Meh, been there too many times with the football team. Too many times. Might play surprisingly well against a good team, give us hope that we're improving, then we go out and look like poop against Vandy. That is Spurrier’s opinion. Perhaps. But he taught our fans not to be content with losing close games to good teams. His quotes / request have fallen upon deaf ears after he quit on his team mid-season.
Well, he taught SOME of our fans.Perhaps. But he taught our fans not to be content with losing close games to good teams.
I have never been content with losing. I think this is the case for 95% of our fanbase. Thay said, I am not blind and can recognize progress.Perhaps. But he taught our fans not to be content with losing close games to good teams.

Agreed but we certainly improved. We are a much better team now than we were mid-season (even if you exclude Alabama). It was nice to see us play well at home.I certainly understand the rationale. I guess I've just seen it too many times to count, particularly in football, to put much stock in one game. Our history is one of potential signs of progress being quickly erased with an abysmal performance.
Well…except for one season…our basketball program was pretty much what you described under Coach Martin.I certainly understand the rationale. Well, believe or not, even Beamer still has his doubters. Seems hard to believe, but it's true.I'm convinced that the small group of anti-Paris bunch will never be supportive of him, for whatever reason, no matter what he accomplishes here. Thus, they can never be credible critics, in my eyes. Noise is all they are..... squealers.
GG does not look NBA ready to me.Crap call that fouled out Brown. That hurt. Bad defense by Verdonk and GG down the
He is not NBA ready but that is irrelevant. NBA drafts on potential and he has a lot of it. He'll likely go mid first round.GG does not look NBA ready to me.

FIRE PARIS!This team has played very well down the stretch. Proud of coach Paris and his boys. Certainly has us moving in the right direction.
Wonder if the "fire Paris" crowd will show their heads today?

Terrible call on Brown - textbook block without fouling!Crap call that fouled out Brown. That hurt. Bad defense by Verdonk and GG down the stretch
Put the children's college fund on Tennessee to cover. We shall see for sure. We get a quick turnaround with #11 UT this weekend. If this game against Bama was a true indicator of our progress, we should put up a good game against UT. They vaporized us into nothingness last time we played, so almost any score we put up should show progress compared to our last outing against them.
His poor defense is the most bothersome…no defensive intensityHe was pretty much shut down in the second half wasn't he? I thought he had 13 at half when I went to bed. He ended up with 19.
We were picked to finish dead last (14th) in the SEC by Sports Illustrated. Right now, we are 12th. Paris is, thus far, overachieving with the terrible hand he was given to play with this season. Thus, in my eyes, that gives me hope.Well, believe or not, even Beamer still has his doubters. Seems hard to believe, but it's true.
I think it's fair to have doubts about Paris at this point, even expected. It's also fair to say he needs more time. So far I'm in the undecided category. I haven't seen much this season to give me much hope, so I defer my opinion until next season.
lol, it's a stretch to say he's overachieving b/c we are 1 game ahead of the last place teams. We were picked to finish dead last (14th) in the SEC by Sports Illustrated. Right now, we are 12th. I agree with 18 here ... while there is truth found in the "hope" perspective, we still lost. My favorite NFL coach (Bill Parcells) preached this and instilled this into his teams. One year when he coached the NY Jets (to the AFC Championship game), in the opening game of the season, they lost at the SF 49ers ... in OT. Dave Jennings, who played for Parcells with the Giants, in the postgame, phrased his question along the lines of "your team took the defending divisional champs, in their stadium, down to OT". I loved Parcells response: "Dave, we lost the game. Next question". He set the bar right there ... the team went on to finish 12-4 ... this "program" is down for a reason (and there are many) but IMHO, we need a coach who will tout improvement, yes, but will instill the mindset of the goal ... that is to win. Now, focusing on tonight's battle vs. the Lady Vol's. Let's go Lady G's ..... life is good - Peace!![]()

Yes, but there was no doubt who was considered the worst team in the SEC coming into the season. Now, there is. So, yes, that's beating preseason expectations. And certainly absolutely no one can say we are underachieving, even his few detractors.Basically you've got 3 teams duking it out for worst team in the conference, and we're one of those 3 teams.

The garnet shaded glasses wearers can't understand this.lol, it's a stretch to say he's overachieving b/c we are 1 game ahead of the last place teams.
We're 3 games out from 11th. Basically you've got 3 teams duking it out for worst team in the conference, and we're one of those 3 teams.
Well, to add some important context, those same SI preseason projections also had UK #1 and Arkansas #2 in the conference. UK currently sits at #3, 4 games out. Arkansas sits at 7th. They also predicted LSU 7th in the conference and "safe to dance" and they are currently tied for last., not even in NIT consideration. Vandy was predicted #13 and they currently sit at #8. A&M was predicted #7 and the currently sit at #2, 1 game off Bama's pace.
Takeaway: the preseason projections are meaningless.
Nevertheless, I guess your position is that Paris has elevated us from "clearly the worst team" to "arguably the worst team". Doesn't seem to be a strong position to hold, but that's your call.
FIRE PARIS!
