Dick Cross truing to emphasize some new ratings system he found that rates baseball teams based on margin of victory?? His bias is showing in a big way. It obviously appears that he wants to emphasize the Sunday game between Mississippi and Mississippi State, I.e. , the margin of victory in that one game. He’s trying to ignore 150 years of baseball historywhere it is always been, whether you win by one run or 10 runs, a victory is a victory, unlike in other sports. There has never been such a rating system in baseball because of the nature of the game. LOL.

There is a new rating system that will be given to the selection committee, along with RPI. But it’s specifically not to be used in their selection criteria. Whatever the 17 that’s supposed to mean. If you give it to them, consciously or subconsciously, they will use it to some degree.

A rating like this should probably cap the run differential at 6 or 7 per game. Because everyone knows that you won’t bring in a lock down closer in the 7th on a Friday game to make sure you only lose by 7 instead of 12.

That metric wont matter for Ole Miss. They are 9-14 in the league with 6 games left vs A&M and @LSU. They'll need to win 4 of those games to make the tournament and I think they'll be pressed to win 2.
