Hope we dump Under Armour when contract up. Learned they sponsor so-called Trophy hunting. I can`t think of anything more despicable.

I won`t be buying anymore UA stuff as a result. Takes a sick, twisted-minded person to get their jollies by killing one of nature`s creatures for no good reason other than somehow thinking it makes them some big person. Very disappointed in U/A.
Rushmore needs a refacing.

I trophy hunt and eat everything I kill. We put over 80 lbs of deer burger, 10 lbs of cube steak and 4 sets of back straps this year. I hunt for the meat but also look for trophies. You sound like one of the liberals that want take 2nd amendment rights from law abiding citizens.

I don’t think getting a 12 point buck is the trophy hunting he is alluding to. I believe UA guys went to Africa and hunted/poached on government land for animals that licenses are not given.

Didn’t get the opportunity to go duck hunting this year, but there is deer and a buddy gave me 10lbs of elk burgers

Sometimes I tuck my weiner between my legs so I can know what it feels like to be a liberal.

UA is facing some financial difficulties. They have dropped some of their college contracts, and a ton of their HS contracts. Nike on the other hand is willing to take a loss to provide smaller colleges and high schools apparel, working under the assumption they recoup with brand recognition.

It is interesting they dropped a more widely known commodity, UCLA, and kept us as one of their schools. I personally like UA clothing better than Nike, although I am not a young person. However, both are very overpriced.

Sounds like you and Psycock are not talking about the same thing. I do find hunting simply for the joy of killing to be despicable, but that does not apply to you, joefanatic. For a meat eater (and I am one), in the long run, IMO there's no difference between what you are doing and what goes on in a slaughterhouse. And your treatment of the kill may very well be better than what goes on in a slaughterhouse.

Not talking about hunting per se, although I think an "ethical" hunter is an oxymoron. Talking about the "sportsmen" who go kill an animal for no reason other that to show off it`s skin or put it`s head on the wall. Not sport in my opinion. And you call me a liberal when I voted for Trump(and would again), watch Fox all the time and think the current administration is totally incompetent and some (Joe) are corrupt as well. Prefer Desantis but would vote for Trump vs. any Democrat. Not liberal but I don`t agree with everything the conservatives support. Not trying to take your gun, don`t worry. I think you should have a license and pass some kind of test to have one though - too many accidents. Also, I would be as tough on crime as anyone. Make a law that would have a mandatory minimum 5-10 yr. sentence for using a gun in any crime. Stop all the BS the liberal Democratic mayors spew. I say lock them up - think that might be a deterrent? Of course they won`t do it.

My dad put a shotgun in my hands at age 10. He taught me gun safety, you only kill an animal if you are going to eat it, you NEVER hunt over baited fields, you buy a license, you NEVER exceed the limit and we always stop at least 5 minutes before legal time. Oh and never hunt with Dick Cheney.

My mom on the other hand taught me and I quote, “Don’t bring that $h1t to me. YOU killed it, YOU clean it!”

I am about as liberal as they come but the only damn people that can get away with calling me a unethical hunter are vegetarians. I will disagree and argue with them, but at least they walk the walk!

I am an a dedicated hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.I never kill simply for the thrill of a kill.In fact that's the worst part.I enjoy being in nature and spending time out of doors. In fact,I spend a considerable sum of money on conservation and habitat improvement.

I under no circumstances am interested in hunting an endangered species such as any Big Cats or Elephants..However the reason the Elephants and Lions,Tigers are endangered is loss of habitat.Too many animals in too small a habitat results in disease and starvation. If the number of animals exceeds the carrying capacity of the land,Mother nature takes over and it aint pretty. In many poor countries in Africa the trophy hunting fees are about the only money put back into conservation by these governments.

My cousin keeps trying to get me to go on this bird shoot. Where you released a bunch of captive birds and then shoot them as they try to fly off. I don’t which activity I’d hate more. That one or enduring another season of Gamecock football with Mooshamp level results.

For me, it's the former - no question about it.

What about clay pigeons?

I’ve never heard of a captured bird shoot. Explain what this is?

I got invited to one once 20 years ago and accepted not knowing what it was. It was a paid shoot and I got gifted a last minute invite.

They had caged Farm raised chukar(type of partridge) on a hill. The hill was surrounded by blinds. They take 3 or 4 chukar at a time and throw them in the air, the birds flew, but no matter which way they flew they were flying towards shooters. It was not hunting by any stretch of the imagination but rather target practice. They even had folks to clean the birds before you left.

I found it to be disgusting and demeaning. No skill really involved. Gave my birds to the people who cleaned them. Rich folks way of trying to simulate hunting with guaranteed results. It cheapened the experience of hunting

Good for you! I have switched to eating vegetarian about half of my meals.

The case for hunting to non hunters is too long to be argued here. But.....
Hunters as a group tend to care more about conservation and nature than most. My experience is the divide is not liberal vs conservative but urban vs rural.

I am very aware that I am killing..... to me it reminds me of the fragility of life and my own mortality.

"Hunting for some is a deliberate journey to the union of life and death,". "Hunting connects us viscerally to the certain reality that life requires death and by doing so makes real the weighty importance of both."

I knew a guy that took his wife to Africa so that she could shoot a giraffe and use the legs to make a coffee table.

That's trophy hunting and it's ridiculous.

I had a boss at my last job who screamed and yelled. After a while it became a joke because nothing changed. He wouldn't fire the people that needed to be fired, he just yelled. I got tired of working in that dysfunctional climate and left.

If true as a hunter I find that highly offensive....I don't consider that person a sportsman..Just as its said you can learn a lot about a person during a round of golf, also you learn everything about a person in how they act in relation to hunting and fishing.I never met a person I wanted to be associated with who was a poacher or game hog.

And that giraffe fed the local community and the hunting party that evening in camp. The trophy fee went to the conservation efforts and management of the game parks (employee salary, vehicle maintenance, research efforts, game tagging, etc) and the customers tip went directly into the PH and his tracker's pockets. The lady got her table, and a husband gave his wife something she wanted..... EVERYONE benefitted, at the cost of one giraffe, that did NOT go to waste. Y'all make it sound like he shot the giraffe and cut its legs off and left it there to rot. Not the case at all. All the pearl clutching and pitchforks and torches that hunters are met with is absolutely laughable. I can almost tell you by reading this post which of you carries a pocket knife or not....

Unpopular opinion here:
This is something most people don't know about giraffes. I've read the oldest males are not fertile anymore and can be exiled from the herd. Thus you're only impacting the portion of the population that won't affect future population if you shoot one. The locals eat. The poor country gets some much needed revenue, some of which will be used to fight indiscriminate poaching. But people are dead set against it without knowing all the details.

I have no desire to hunt a giraffe. I don't even hunt, but I do fish-a lot. But I'm not going to tell Namibia or Zimbabwe what to do either. It's difficult for some to understand that killing part of a population can help ensure its health and survival. But just look at the whitetail population. When I was a kid they were a nuisance to farmers and it was rare to see tracks. Now you can count them along the country roads at night. And, honestly, there aren't many nice ways for a game animal to die. At least they didn't live their lives in captivity before being slaughtered for food. If you eat meat, you're actually killing the meat because you're the market for it. What makes a giraffe's life more important than a cow's?

Oh, and Under Armor sucks as a product.

You're exactly right. Most of the older males are no longer part of the breeding stock, and actually do more harm than good since they will readily kill newborn/yearlings to eliminate competition. They don't know that they're infertile, they just want to Eat, F**K, and Fight. Removing them actually helps the species as a whole. This is relevant to a ton of species in Africa, not just giraffes. Rhino are bad about it, as are hippos and Elephants. Hunting IS Conservation, people just have to be informed.
