We fired him for Slick 17ing Morton. I'm trying to think of a modern equivalent to that kind of boneheaded firing and replacement, but I can't.
A busInness man in Hazlehurst offered to donate $50,000 to MSU athletics if he could dictate the offense run. McKeen wouldn’t go along with it but Morton would.

Coker won a national championship. Don't care who set him up for it - he was the coach when it happened
but he was fired after having a .800 winning percentage. didn't the u fire him? they haven't been relevant since. what are they? like 80-75 since they canned him?

It's a damn shame that 99% of our fan base, alumni included, have never heard of our greatest ever coach.

Yep. We forced out our greatest ever coach. We have been in football purgatory ever since.

When Karma has you by the balls and just won't let go

Maybe we should find a relative and hire them in some ambassador role or something to try and exorcise the deamons

Let be honest, what Mullen inherited was an absolute dumpster fire. Not taking anything away from Leach, but Mullen damn near turned water into wine.

Leach’s has better resources than any coach on that list. He also had to coach thru a covid season with 10 sec games in his first season. His trajectory is ascending. Needs to get #9 with a bowl win and then win 10 next year. He may not be the best we’ve ever had but he’s a winner.

That's the State way................
Like Leach said, "We have a hard time with prosperity". Our fans enjoy whining about what should have, could have . . . If we had kept McKeen we may have become the Alabama of the SEC. Instead, we torpedo our program and lament.
