The lack of round robin gives uneven schedules and a complete crapshoot as to who gets into the conference championship games. Plus, a whole bunch of rivalries and annual games that have existed for years are gone. I thought it was cool that we missed out on Alabama, LSU, and Auburn before the season, but now I wish we'd just played them like we have every year of my life.

I really hope they adopt one of these ~70 team super league proposals with smaller divisions, round robins, and objective W/L records determining who gets in.

BTW, I’m still fuming about the SEC running back the ‘24 schedule next season. Who knows what teams will look like next year but it’s ******** that we’ve got to play Tex, A&M and Ga again, instead of Auburn, LSU, etc.

Yea. The lazy flip flop is ridiculous. Us and Florida get punished for a 2nd year in a row while Ole Miss gets another cake walk. Their hardest road games next season will be Georgia, Oklahoma and Kentucky. Brutal.

If we had a good team coming back, especially on defense, that ‘25 home schedule would be lit - UGa, Tex, Tenn, and OM. Instead, Lebby brings back Hutzler and the rest of the clowns and we’ll see lots of opposing fans filling up DWS looking for an easy win.

The SEC and Big 10 aren't going anywhere, including merging into a super conference. That'd be stupid on their part. They run CFB, they're not going to secede any ground, if anything they will add a couple more teams to become even more powerful. To me, UNC is the prize.

We got absolutely raped with the schedule. We could potentially play four playoff teams this year, and play all of them on the road. Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss. I’m a rare breed. I think they’ve been taking college football in the wrong direction for a very long time. I never understood why we ever needed a true undisputed national champion. What was so wrong about the regional model of the 80s and early 90’s? Your goal for the season was to win your conference title. And it wasn’t the end of the world if you got to the end of the season and just had to debate whether undefeated Nebraska or undefeated Washington was better. And I miss the old New Year’s Day bowl bonanza, where rather than every game in its own time slot, it felt more like a Day 1 of March Madness where you always had a great game in every slot because 4 were going on simultaneously.

They need to go back to 2 divisions but do a lottery every year to allocate the teams based on their previous years records. It wouldn’t be perfect but would add some balance to the schedules.

The SEC weighted the schedule based on records from the previous 5 years of each team and ranked them. Supposedly teams at the bottom would play more teams at the bottom and vice versa. However, they set the schedule two years ago, so teams that sucked the previous 5-7 years (see Ole Miss, Tennessee, Missouri) were considered bottom teams. Those teams got better, along with Texas and A&M and you now have a perfect storm of BRUTAL schedule.

I suspect in '26 if they go to 9 games, they will completely reshuffle the schedule and probably make State go to UGa again.

I know the feeling, but the entire time D1 FBS was always the odd man out. Even the NFL used playoffs. But I will say, one thing the bowl system did, was it gave EVERYONE a reward for a good season, even if it wasn't a national title. But there was a ton of unfairness in that system too, as the bowls were based on conference merit, not overall merit.

While I enjoyed the old days, the playoff is progress.

This is what needs to happen, although there's no reason for the SEC to do this until there is proof that the committee will use strength of schedule, and not just sheer record. Or give them a guaranteed minimum amount of teams.
