If Coach Franklin retired today, who would you want PSU to pursue as the next Head Coach

I like Deion Sanders. If not Deion and we look at the NFL, I would hope the program could pursue Eric Bieniemy from KC.

Shalom

As I’ve said before, Jay. No relo costs for Penn State, he can OBVIOUSLY. o_O afford housing in State College, and most importantly and most OBVIOUSLY. o_O, he is universally loved by Penn State‘s faithful.

Trying to gain enough votes to win "the stupidest poster of the year"?

Not only is the question dumb, he doubles down with his suggestions - two people that have ZERO chance of becoming the next head coach at PSU.

I've got Mr. Potter in the lead for 2022 Idiot of the Year. Who you got?

I will not allow Mr. Potter, or anyone else, to wear the crown of Idiot of the Year. I am a dynasty.

I like the idea of Bieniemy.

This is the rub. Ideally you want someone like Franklin; success as a HC somewhere, young, excellent recruiter, dynamic personality, has ties to the region/state/school, and not looking at the NFL (considers PSU a dream job). So, I have no idea who that person is or could be. The first name that pops into my head is Bill O'Brien, but not sure I'd want him back (or more to the point, that he would come back). Bienemy is intriguing, but I feel like he has his sights set on the NFL too. Bobby Engram? New Wisconsin OC and only put up 10 points against Illinois, and no HC experience. Luke Fickell is maybe *that* guy, but he's an OSU grad (not that it's impossible - we keep Cael happy it seems when he could have any job he wants). Joe Brady is interesting - would definitely get that recruiting bump and maybe open up the Louisiana market for PSU; no HC experience but he'll be a HC sooner or later. How is Josh Gattis doing at Miami? Would Moorhead have success with the PSU brand behind him? No idea.

I also think you interview Rhule. No brainer.

I limited my prioritized list to coaches who are either available or would likely be interested.

1. Urban Meyer
2. Matt Rhule
3. Lance Leopold
4. marshall23

Lane Kiffin. He is the funniest dickhead out there.

Something almost makes me like him. He seems to have learned to be a head coach finally too. Never questioned his football intelligence.

Anybody, literally anybody is preferable to #4. I wouldn’t want him to manage my fantasy football team.

You don't want EB, he was a train wreck as OC a few yrs back, reason he's never gotten a head gig anywhere. I like Ruhle and Matt Campbell, Fickell would probably be outstanding as well. Freeze has issues at Ole Miss, but one hell of a coach and will have many opportunities this time around if he wants them.

Meyer.... Everyone else is a gamble... except Saban, Smart and maybe Dabo and they aren't leaving.. The later two may not be successful recruiting.

Deion is a funny one... He would recruit lights out wherever he goes next. Great.. Then what?
He is not an X and Os guy and can he develop his 4&5 stars like Bama, clemson, Osu, Georgia could? I would think not.. He would have to get really good position coaches and coordinators.. He would get rolled Agaisnt the aforementioned in the playoffs.. This is Chess it ain't Checkers 🤣

Seriously what is the point of this question?
To point and laugh at the members of the He-Man Franklin Haters Club when they have to try to suggest something better. You'll also notice another trend if you look carefully.

Matt Rhule? Nah, why has Al Golden fallen off the radar? Actually, the best candidate for this board should be Paul Chryst. This way, complaints after a loss could be entertaining: “what the Chryst”
“For Chryst sake”
“What in the name of bald headed Chryst was that?”
“Chryst almighty”
and so forth………

“Damn it! Would you put a fullback in?!”

“But I’m Paul Chryst!”

Urban Meyer...if that doesn't work out, what's Sean Lee doing these days?

All that’s really needed is an intern on the sideline, checking this board and signaling in the plays we call.

Way cheaper than $7.5 million, and doubtless super effective.

Since we are dealing in fantasy, I'll go with Saban 10 years ago. Maybe the Bear or Joe in their prime. Also they probably have to be on the sidelines with their pet unicorn.
