If Coach Franklin retired today, who would you want PSU to pursue as the next Head Coach

Trying to gain enough votes to win "the stupidest poster of the year"?

Not only is the question dumb, he doubles down with his suggestions - two people that have ZERO chance of becoming the next head coach at PSU.

I've got Mr. Potter in the lead for 2022 Idiot of the Year. Who you got?

I like Deion Sanders. If not Deion and we look at the NFL, I would hope the program could pursue Eric Bieniemy from KC.

Shalom
Bo Pelini. He's got the vocabulary and the temperament to put this fanbase in its place.

1. I want a coach that runs a clean program
2. I want a coach that is a good recruiter
3. I want a coach who can win the conference
4. I want a coach who can finish in the top 10

The obvious answer is anyone but Franklin, right?

I kid, as I like Franklin. He still needs to change somethings and not let this team lose any of remaining regular season games.

If you are going to replace with someone who will perform better, you need a coach who has done more with less. This eliminates any Coach from teams with more financial support and better facilities. There is nobody coaching today that has won a national championship with less than Penn State. So, now you are talking about either coaches that have had good success with much less than Penn State and could project do better given the resources, or coaches who are a good fits for Penn state but aren’t likely to win championships. I would exclude hot shot coordinators, but that’s just a personal preference…

Here are some people I’d interview:
Lance Leipold
Matt Campbell
PJ Fleck
Dave Clawson
Dave Doern
Jeff Monken
Mike Leach
Matt Rhule
Dan Mullen
Pat Fitzgerald

My wild card would be Urban Meyer. Yes, he has baggage, but he’s got more championship cred than anyone not named Nick Saban.

A few years ago, Pat Fitzgerald was on the top of many McAndrew Board lists. I guess people got over him.

Guys this fanbase would turn on faster than you can say James Franklin.....try watching some of their games
Leach
Mullen
Fleck
fanboys here get all moist between the legs dreaming of Matt Rhule. 47-43 and 11- 27 in the NFL.
They'd turn on him in a New York minute.

Urban would win. I see no reason "we" shouldn't sell "our" souls to the devil. It would make "us" winners, right?

I totally get Lance Leipold the rest ehhh.
I mean other than some sometimes interesting sound bites, but mostly just stupid, what has Mike Leach done? I just don't get the fascination with him.
Oh I get hes' "edgy" but that doesn't make him a good coach. 🤷‍♂️

He’s won at Texas Tech, WSU, and Miss St. He’s not going to win a natty, but neither are most everyone else I listed.

well he was 84-43 at TT, 55-47 at WSU and 16-16 at Miss St (a real conf.) for a 155-106 record.
I'm sorry that is not what I want at PSU.
Leiopold and Rhule would be the only 2 I would possibly have any interest in.

Not only would Urban get PSU to the elite level with recruiting and competing with OSU, USC and Michigan but he'd put together a staff that would include his successor. OSU has continued to thrive since he left. Baggage schmaggage.

With a 12 team playoff I wouldn’t dump Franklin for most available coaches (Meyer a massive exception but he leaves places in disgrace which may not be worth it). With that comes a little more room for error, which Franklin has become known for.

Definitely someone with lots of BWI posting experience. Surprised nobody mentioned Brian Hartline yet, although I'd prefer if he had coordinator experience first.

A loss in a national semi-final would still have folks complaining, including me, but I'll take it!

This is extremely hard for me to take. As hard as I've tried, I just can't seem to get close to the crown. What the hell do I have to do?
On a non related subject, congratulations on your recent banning at the Rutgers Board. The hilarious part was that the one they went ballistic on wasn’t even anti Rutgers or remotely controversial.

You and marshal23 would have to arm wrestle for it

Get your own coke fueled dream. I'm bringing back Larry Johnson and Ron Vanderlin, Spread HD, and the HIT program. And I'm committed to Saban levels of oversignings. And cheerleaders. Lots and lots of cheerleaders.

And screw you woke weenies - they're all going to be women. Real ones.
