If Coach Franklin retired today, who would you want PSU to pursue as the next Head Coach

I’d like to resurrect Jerry Faust and put him in charge of the program. Why? Because this is a really stupid question. Sorry, Mr. Potter.
I think we should resurrect Bernie McCue and put him in charge, that way every game day could become a weekend at Bernie's!

Question. After 3 years if both coach Franklin and Penn State mutually agreed on parting ways what happens if he was hired by another school? I’m told that’s his payout is guaranteed regardless. True?
Why would Franklin leave 42 million dollars? If he chooses to go somewhere else, he will only leave for more guaranteed money.

If this thread proves anything, it's that nobody has a realistic better alternative - meaning somebody who is both demonstrably better and who would also actually be interested.
Fanboys are like your wife...."don't tell me how to feel" it isn't logic that drives their tantrums.....it's hormones.

Didn't watch the game live, but having finished watching on dvr, I think Franklin is capable of taking this team to the playoffs. BUT only if he can upgrade the play at QB, OL, and DL. If you can win both sides of the LOS, then you have days like today, if you lose both then you have the Michigan game, if it's close then you have Alabama vs LSU.

In all fairness to Marshall he is the wise Ole Owl who has patience. With that said he did outline his standards earlier in this post, which I agree with. 10-2 is more than respectable. If there is a change he needs to be rock solid not some hope theb next HC is successful. Hence why for weeks when this topic comes up I simply state there is only one coach available that can deliver... But like Marshall I want success with honor and that is not negotiable. We have standards!
While I agree with you and that would be the way to win a NC. I would also say that 80% (maybe more) of elite coaches truly capable of winning a NC would not accept the position the moment an AD, University President or BOG make this comment. Most of your HC’s capable of winning a NC end up in the SEC and every once in a blue moon the ACC or B10 will land one. One more thing, don’t believe the recruiting rankings, they’re skewed and misleading since the criteria to land that special Kid is different at every school. Right?

Meyer.... Everyone else is a gamble... except Saban, Smart and maybe Dabo and they aren't leaving.. The later two may not be successful recruiting.

Deion is a funny one... He would recruit lights out wherever he goes next. Great.. Then what?
He is not an X and Os guy and can he develop his 4&5 stars like Bama, clemson, Osu, Georgia could? I would think not.. He would have to get really good position coaches and coordinators.. He would get rolled Agaisnt the aforementioned in the playoffs.. This is Chess it ain't Checkers 🤣
...but Deion would still be one helliuva safety!

Sadly true. Save Meyer.

I would lobby for PA native son and great communicator John Fetterman. I hear he might be available soon. ;)

We would need someone who could bring the program out of the ashes. Someone who has had success at a smaller program. Someone who is a natural born winner. And only one name comes to mind…..
