My tech guy says the iPhone is inferior in terms of construction. I didn't say it; he said it.

IPhones are overpriced and for hipster tw*ts who have to follow the herd.
Been hearing this tired and outdated mantra for years now.
Side note Apple 13 $ 999.00 (128GB). Samsung s22 1199.99 (128GB). Prices are relatively the same, so the overpriced, and hipster claim becomes non bearing.

Had a Samsung for a while then switched to an Iphone. I find the Iphone more intuitive, but I'm thats just my opinon.

The Samsung S22+, which is recommended by several reviewers I trust over the S22 Ultra, is $999. Exacly the same price as the iPhone, but superior.

No way I'm stupid enough to pay $1000 for a damn phone so whatever. Doesn't change the fact that iPhones are hipster catnip for those who have to have certain brands to keep up their social status. Nor does it change the fact that iPhones are overpriced for what they are just like most all phones.

No one is suggesting as to what price you should pay for a phone. The thrust of this thread is, if one brand is better than the others, which in reality will come down to a personal choice.

I use an iPhone and I have no reason whatsoever to keep up a social status, as I am retired.

I sort of have the opinion that a phone is a phone is a phone.

never was a fan of Apple. First smartphone was a Palm Pre, which I really liked. Then we moved to Japan and what we could get from the phone dealer on base was an iphone. used that for 2 years in japan and felt like once i was in that ecosystem, i was stuck. i tried to switch to a galaxy a few years ago when we upgraded, but i was so used to iphone, it all just felt weird, so i switched it back the next day. i liked the phone better overall, but i was just used to iOS. like i could never make the switch to mac from using pc.

I have a LG Optimus L90 - have had it since 2014, and it still works fine. But I MUST upgrade, due to the fact that my phone doesn't support 5G service, so I need a new phone by July 1st. I am getting a Samsung A03s, which is the cheapest phone Samsung sells currently. I actually came THIS close to getting a Alcatel flip phone.

Since having a work candy bar phone with full data in the early 2000s, and then getting a Blackberry Curve for myself with full data around 2005, I've found that I could care less for having an internet-capable smart phone. The Curve plan was a very expensive plan at the time, and I hardly ever used the internet on it. I also have an iPad and usually don't bother with it either. I have my desktop PC and when I want to access the internet for whatever, I always preferred going that route. So the last thing I wanted to do was buy some $1,000+ smart phone that I would use only for phone calls and the odd text from time to time. Still, the Samsung was around $180 without a new plan - $150 with one. I already have my plan, so with tax it was about $213........

Well, of course it is. The term "fanboy" was created by Apple, er.....fanboys, or by others on the outside in reference to them, watching how they responded and interacted in the wild, back when it was about their precious Macs vs "IBM Compatibles", now known as Windows machines. It carried over to the iPod, which was certainly NOT "better" than other top competitors in the MP3 Player market, as a device. Sure, they were ALWAYS marketed better, and had better 3rd-party support, but they were always more expensive than other top competitors due to Apple's 55% profit margin rule. But that was how Jobs ALWAYS marketed his products: he made them SEEM as if they were so much better than the competition that they weren't even considered the same PRODUCT as their competition, even though of course they were the same products.

A simple example: remember when "podcasts" were the new and greatest thing? Media websites had all these podcasts that could be downloaded for listening to at later dates - little audio (at first) and then video files of discussions on the latest topics. There's still plenty of them out there these days. Jobs insisted that all media marketed their podcasts like this:

"Download our podcasts to your iPod or MP3 Player today!!"

Now, you don't hear that anymore, because the MP3 Player Market is obsolete, but people never realized the subliminal marketing that was behind all that, and how Steve Jobs was behind that marketing. The iPod HAS ALWAYS BEEN a MP3 player. It started out as a purely MP3 Player as a 1st gen, then as iTunes and AAC was supported by Apple, became marketed as primarily a AAC device by default, but EVEN AFTER this, all iPod models supported the MP3 audio format - you just had to select the format specifically when burning music off your CDs to it, otherwise it would default to AAC. But those media sources were technically saying, "download our podcasts to your MP3 Player or MP3 Player today!!". That doesn't make sense, does it? And it doesn't separate the iPod from all other MP3 players very well, either.

But even though the iPod has always been an MP3 player, by setting the iPod apart from ALL OTHER MP3 players, and having the mass media support that false narrative, it supported Job's marketing of the iPod as being something different and better from all other MP3 player competitors. It was product illusion by design. And that's been Apple's modus operandi for ALL their products ever since, including with their iPhones which took the place of the iPod as their flagship products......

The Mac is actually a PC. PC stands for personal computer. Maybe better to phrase it as Mac vs Intel/clones.

Why do you need 5G?

Why do you need 5G?
If you have a 3G, all 3 American mobile providers are now phasing out those networks, which will mean you need the minimum 4G option.
You can still buy a 4G, but 4G mobile phones have a technology which can only catch 4G or below technology, but if you own a 5G mobile phone then you can use 5G and below technologies like 4G, 3G, 2G and 1G as well.
If you are in the market for a new mobile, you might as well purchase 5G compatibility.

I’ve had both. I liked the how I could add just about anything I wanted to my android, regardless of developer. However, as I’ve become less interested in that, I find the iPhone a lot easier to use. Just added my mom to our plan (got a free iphone). She has always had an android, but also said she felt the iPhone was easier to use…once she got used to it.

One caveat to the iPhone. If it gets damaged (e.g., dropped in a very clean commode at Buc-ee's), you don't have the data (e.g., photos) backed up, and Apple tells you that the information cannot be recovered, don't believe them.

I've never had an iPhone, my wife once did, and she didn't like it. And that's okay. For those of you with iPhones, may you have many years of productive use with them and I hope you never need the services of iPadRehab. But it's worth a visit to their web page.
