Was that when he was googling Whaley's and checking out the bikini website?

Also when arriving at mother's house pulled around back and took 192 steps before calling inside asking them to unlock the door.

Per various newspaper accounts of the testimony ... "However, during cross-examination, the defense pointed out that at the time Murdaugh drove past the area where Maggie's phone was found, he didn't slow down."

"GPS data from Murdaugh's SUV and cellphone data also shows Murdaugh tried to call 911 but misdialed less than 20 seconds after he arrived at the kennels where the bodies of his son and wife were, a short distance from their home. After about another 20 seconds, Murdaugh completed the emergency call and told the 911 operator he checked them to see if they were alive."

Also, the "short" distance from the hosue was a couple of football fields away...

The timing on the 911 call isn't accurate. It was 17 seconds on the first 911 call, which he dialed 9111. He corrected and dialed the correct 911 within a few seconds after. It was not a 40 second ordeal. He connected to 911 20 seconds after putting his car in park, including the failed attempt after 17 seconds.

I’m sorry but that’s just not how the judicial system works
Can to explain it, counsel? If he planned it, and was there, it’s absolutely the hand of one is hand of all. What say you?

Accomplice Liability – What is “the Hand of One is the Hand of All?”

You can be convicted of a crime even though you were not the “principal” who committed the crime if the State can prove that you:
  • Knew a crime was being committed,
  • Participated in the commission of the crime, and
  • Were present when the crime was committed.
Under an accomplice liability theory, you can be convicted of crimes that you did not intend to commit if an accomplice commits a crime that was a “natural and probable consequence” of the crime that you did intend to commit.

I said on the other thread, this is just like the OJ case. Don’t know if he did the stabbing, but too much evidence says he was there. Same with Alex.
If you’re innocent, why keep telling lies about your timeline??
I think the defense scored a small win with the coroner testimony. He said the deaths could be 8:30 to 9:30, but hard to tell. I’m sure the defense will say it opened up the fact Alex was indeed gone when it happened at 9:30, not 8:50 and 9:03.

I found it interesting that his longtime friend Chris Wilson was asked "did you really know Alex Murdaugh"? How many of his close associates and friends knew about him stealing from poor people and using that money to finance a drug addiction. His law firm certainly didn't know and when they found out seemed to be shocked. I bet they thought they knew him too. Sometimes you really don't know someone at all.
There's no way his law firm wasn't in on the financial crimes unless they're just so grossly incompetent they didn't notice millions of dollars missing.

So answer these questions.
Why did he say he was Not at the kennels with Paul and Maggie after Supper ?
Where is the 3rd brown AR rifle that his family used as late as March 2021 that Ammo matches the ones that killed Maggie ?
Why did he erase multiple calls off his phone ?
Where are the clothes he was wearing late that afternoon ( In Snap Chat )
Wouldn't surprise me if cousin Eddie took care of all that.

I have been saying the same..... The CFO that testified about the missing funds should have been terminated the same day as Alec.

This testimony is useless. It assumes the shooter had to be standing upright to shoot, which means we should be looking for children or midgets...the mechanical engineer says the shooter had to been 5'2, based on his calculations. I can't imagine anyone actually believing that.

Or perhaps, he was crouched on the first shot bc he was trying to sneak around and surprise her. I think that would make much more sense than a 5'2 shooter going around murdering people.

I am not sure the initial investigation wasn't screwed up so bad not to allow reasonable doubt. They failed to secure anything and didn't make a complete search until the house was so contaminated that is was a useless search. And that has been one of the major complaints and big discussions in that part of the lowcountry.

If I remember my Crim Law correctly, that is typically used against those involved in the commission of a separate felony where one of the perpetrators kills someone.....such as three people commit armed robbery and one suspect shoots and kills someone....all three are then accomplices to the murder not just the one that pulled the trigger.

I wonder why the defense would have a guy that had no certification in firearms and no certification in gunshot reconstruction be their guy to make the argument that AM could not have made those shots??

I have not commented at all on this. I will just say this: I believe Paul was shot first. It seems to me that he was THE target. But I know little and claim less.

Because its simple math/physics, therefore you need an engineer. You know the "end" point (where the bullet was found) and the trajectory (based upon holes in the wall, etc.) and you connect the dots and extrapolate that point out. There was nothing to "reconstruct". What would the firearm/shotgun expert testify to? The witness used SLED's own evidence/data and simply applied the science. The glaring question is why didn't SLED do that. They had all of the data since 8/21 (or so). The defense had to file motions to get the prosecution to turn the data over, which finally occurred in 10/22. My guess is SLED did the math and most likely gave a "verbal" report to the DA. The DA didn't like the answer as it didn't fit their narrative, so it was understood SLED was not to complete/write the report. Once a "report" (or anything) is in writing, it is subject to Brady and MUST be turned over. Since they had the data, they had to turn over the data. But, since there was no "report" making a conclusion about the data, there was no report to turn over. The SLED data showed that the gun angle could not have come from someone 6'4". I can assure you that if the SLED data showed it was consistent with someone 6'4" the DA would have absolutely presented that evidence as part of their case in chief. The fact that the DA CHOSE not to reveals a lot about the case. My $0.02.

Mugsie Bogues, who played in the NBA, was 5'3". Kevin Hart is 5'4". The comedian Rob Schneider is 5'3". Al Pacino is 5'6" (when he was showing off his "liitle friend" the trajectory was probably someone about 5' tall). Based upon "google" the "average" male mexican is 5'5". Alex and Cousin Eddie were involved in some serious drug dealing....

Couldn't all of this be questioned by simply raising the notion that we don't know if the victims were standing, sitting, kneeling, bending over, etc. when the shooting occurred?

The drug gang Alex was supposedly into money for was the "Cowboys" a black gang from Colleton County.More likely to be 6-2 than 5-2.

Normal bullets can't curve or go around corners. They tend to go in a straight line. Per the experts tesitmony yesterday (contrary to the questions/arguments from the DA), there was nothing in the SLED reports showing ricochets or deflections. He simply testified concerning his opinion as to the trajectory of the bullets. The positions of the bodies were irrelevent to his testimony. A different witness will have to superimpose the bodies to correspond the various bullet holes and whether the deceased were standing, leaning, kneeling, etc.

The average height of an adult male african american is about 5' 9" (per google). Unscientifically, based upon this "average", the percentile of people that are 5'4" would be the same as 6'2" (5 inches either way).

Again, all the defense has to do is establish "reasonable" doubt....

Well they are all in the clear since they are taller than 5'2.

In my mind, it would be easy for a juror have a "reasonable" suspicion of guilt and "go with it" and vote guilty, considering its not a death penalty trial, and he's going to jail anyway for financial crimes.

The state just stole this witness from the defense. It's almost like the defense wants to lose, or knows no matter what he's getting off. Buster's testimony didn't move the needle. The engineer that was not an expert in the field he was testifying on was horrible. And this guy is just confirming for the state that you can't trust AM, and nobody really knows him. This guy thought he was close friends with AM for 34 years, but admitted on the stand it turns out he didn't really know him at all. Confirmed AM lied to him about being at the kennels. Confirmed the snapchat video. Just confirmed the law firm they worked at had to shut down due to the financial fraud of AM. Good grief.

Agreed, or that the shooter was not standing at full height when shooting.

The whole notion of the 5'2" shooter is based on assumptions of the position of the shooter and victims. But that's pretty much rewording what you said.

I didn't see this engineer's testimony, but it seems odd referring to him as an engineer when there are people who reconstruct crime scenes for a living, and they have drastically different titles. (Maybe the guy had a forensic title, but just likes being referred to as an engineer?)

Just the first link to pop up.

I see that a forensic expert from Connecticut is now being called in.

It is said that the trial will wrap up early next week.

This is a good time to watch the movie "12 Angry Men". What a great movie and great cast!!!!!

In my opinion the needle doesn’t have to be moved. The state still has work to do. The only evidence they have brought forth just shows that he was there at the time of the murders. That’s it. There isn’t any evidence that leads to him pulling the trigger. That’s what they have to prove and In my opinion they haven’t. The defense doesn’t have to prove a dang thing.

You know if I'm on the jury I couldn't help but ask myself ,why would an innocent man lie about all these things like Alex has been proven to.I know the legal minded would say, that doesn't prove he killed them, but why lie if you're innocent?

This is really where I am. I've watched *some* of the trial, and some of the news stories. It doesn't seem like the state has presented any hard evidence that he pulled the trigger. Now, as noted, why would an innocent man have lied so much about so many things? But that doesn't prove he shot anyone. I think this one could easily go either way - And I, for one, won't be surprised, either way.

A lot of the testimony has been prop-your-eyelids open boring (to me). One thing I found interesting is how seemingly everyone mispronounces the names. Alex Murdaugh's friends and acquaintances call him "Ellick" as opposed to how most people pronounce the name Alex. When Buster took the stand, he pronounced his own last name "Mur-dick". I've heard most (and myself thought it to be) "Mur-daw".....

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but there is a podcast, Cup of Justice by Mandy Matney, Liz Farrell and Eric Bland, which discusses this trail. The latest episode discusses the trial so far after the prosecution rested last Friday. I mentioned previously that Eric is my daughter's next-door neighbor. Eric ws the lawyer that represented the house keeper's family. Their plans are to continue the podcast critiquing other high-profile cases in the future.
