You're forgetting he has proven he has been untruthful on many things in this case....Proven to be so.....At this point I tend to NOT give him the benefit of the doubt, but I'm not on the jury....
Rule of thumb is third generation usually destroys a successful family empire. Is he the third? Either way what a pos. Hopefully they burn him and his son for killing the girl in boat crash.

Many people close to this case don't think Alex did it. I'm beginning to go back in that direction myself. I've already posted why I believe that. I've known the Murdaugh family since I was a child. In fact, Alex was handling a case on a car accident on Valentine's Day 2011 where the girl at fault lied about the entire scene. She left a convenience store and crossed 2 lanes of traffic stopped at a traffic light and t-boned us in the inside turning lane entrance to I-95.

Yep. they have yet to provide ANYTHING that would stand up to the standard of "beyond a reasonable doubt". The only hurdle Murdaugh needs to clear is the discrepancy in his alibi.
Like I said guilty as hell and will walk. But I hope not.

Other places hire people with baggage and once they win everything is forgotten except the championships...see Bruce Pearl, Rick Pitino, Bobby knight etc.

For some reason, at the end of the day…I think the defense WANTED Eddie to testIfy. Some say the 3rd interview they showed Wednesday was damning…so perhaps the defense thought bringing in Cousin Eddie might muddy the waters again. They seemed to intentionally bring him up.

Did those who don't think he did ever think he was capable of stealing from his own law firm, his housekeepers family, from people crippled in car wrecks?
Personally I don't think Alex acted alone if he did it...He may not have been the one to pull the trigger....
With all that said,I felt from the beginning hung jury and I still think that's how it ends up.

The car gps data is pretty tough for the defense. It solidifies the timeline. Including showing him slowing down to 45 mph where his wife's phone was found beside the road. And then he sped up. Also less than 20 seconds passed from when he got to the kennels and he called 911 to report the murders. When he claimed he checked both bodies to see if they were alive when he got there..

I missed the 20 second deal..That's pretty tough for Dick/Jim to explain. The onstar evidence is pretty recent. Not sure how much discovery time the defense had.....Might not have been ready for that one.

Yeah. Today was rough for defense. The cell data with the GPS data was bad for them. There’s no way he can park his car, turn it off, get out, find Maggie and Paul in different spots, process what he’s seeing, check pulses, then call 911 in 20 secs. Impossible. Also the part about him opening up a group text about a hot woman while on the crime scene is bad too.

But they have lost their time of death so they can say if Alex was there or not. The medical examiner did awful today. The state can’t clock down the time of death to a closed window. Still slot of doubt left in this case. I’m just not sold that he himself pulled the trigger.

He was involved but that’s not he is being tried on. He is being tried on if he pulled the trigger, to that I’m not sold.
Some very damaging circumstantial evidence has been presented. I hope the jurors can weed through all the misdirections. With all his family ties and people wanting "beyond all doubt" proof, he might walk. Listening to her testimony, I think Maggie's sister knows he did it. She said Maggie's nickname for Paul was "little detective" because he was so good at finding Alex's pill stash. Alex commented on withdrawal from his drug addition "you'll do almost anything to make it go away".

He was only gone from Moselle for about 50 minutes or so. The son and wife's phones went no activity prior to him leaving. He slowed down where the wife's phone was found by the road. He said he was not at the kennels but was on video being there in different clothes than he was wearing when the police got there.

Guilty. But don’t be shocked to see Mr Murdaugh attending Carolina basketball games this time next year! I’m not sure they have enough to convict the beloved low country southern lawyer.

It appears he was there around the time it happened. So if he didn't do it, he knows who did.
Yep. He was there. Then leaves right after the examiner estimated time of death. Then starts making a bunch of phone calls. Guess to try to establish an alibi. Driving becomes erratic probably bc he’s starting to panic. Then the whole rolling up on your brutally murdered family and being able to check them and call 911 within 20 seconds of putting the car in park. That would be enough for me. Also, who is going to show up to murder multiple people and just hope there is a gun on site to do it with?? State has proven he was there at the same time, and his guns were used.

Since this is not a death penalty case and he's going to jail on financial crimes anyway, seems logical there is enough there for a juror to go with a guilty to keep him in jail longer.

All of that is circumstantial at best. Does nothing to say he pulled the trigger.

I found it interesting that his longtime friend Chris Wilson was asked "did you really know Alex Murdaugh"? How many of his close associates and friends knew about him stealing from poor people and using that money to finance a drug addiction. His law firm certainly didn't know and when they found out seemed to be shocked. I bet they thought they knew him too. Sometimes you really don't know someone at all.

If the defense is not worried, why consider putting Murdaugh on the stand? Would think Murdaugh would be against testifying.
The defense said they were going to finish up with a very long witness. A lot of folks are predicting that is AM.

He’s got 100 financial charges. He’s not getting out of jail.
Could be; could be not. He's not a Madoff. Likely they'll merge a number of those charges. His age is his biggest impediment to future freedom.

At any rate, he won't get minimum security if convicted for two murders. If all they convict him of are various malfeasances, he'll be playing tennis in the daytime and poker at night.

I believe he was there when the murders took place but I don’t believe he pulled the trigger. The state has not proved he committed the murders but should have charged him with conspiracy to commit murder or conspiracy after the fact. The state has no weapons, has no blood evidence, no DNA. All they have is opportunity. Even the motive seems to be a stretch. You never know with jurors. The state is asking the jurors to assume he murdered his family. Who knows they may make the leap but it hasn’t been proven. My guess is there were one or possibly two others at the scene. This is why there are no weapons. Something went wrong. Something went sideways with Paul. Maggie was collateral damage. My guess is A confrontation turned deadly. Alex may be protecting Buster and the money he has hidden. The truth is we will probably never know the truth. Is he guilty? Yes of a lot of things. I don’t think he pulled the triggers. Is he a piece of s—t ? Yes he is. Will they convict him of murder? There will be a not guilty contingency in the jury. Can they be swayed to convict? There is no chance of a not guilty verdict. 40% chance or hung jury either way he is going to jail for a long long time

Just started the documentary on HBO Max. Very interesting. I believe 100% Paul's pending boat case was the motive. Alex and his dad had tried all they could to try to use their influence to get Paul off on murder charges. They were trying to persuade kids on the boat that Paul wasn't driving, trying to set up another kid to take the fall. The fall kid's dad grew up childhood friends with Alex. Didn't matter, they tried to set him up. I think AM was afraid of all of this coming out, Paul spending the rest of his life in prison and AM and his dad going down for a cover up. Just a few days earlier mediation in the wrongful death suit had failed, and it was heading to trial. So now he's got the criminal trail coming, as well as the civil trial. Civil cased require a smaller burden of proof. He knew there was no getting off of this one, and everything was going to come crumbling down.

So far this is what I have deducted from the evidence Did he pull the trigger 70% -Yes
Was he there, and masterminded the entire event 99% - Yes
So Guilty of Murder - 99% - Yes.

Also important....AM's mother's caregiver had said that AM was only at his parents' house for 15-20 minutes, while AM said he was there for 40-50 minutes. She also said he tried to convince her to say he was there for 40-50 minutes. The GM data substantiates her story, and uncovers another lie he's told. She also said he had a "blue tarp" that he carried up stairs. Later they would find a wadded up blue rain jacket with gunshot residue all over it in the back of a closet in his parents' house.

Makes me wonder if the prosecution is holding something back, hoping the defense will call AM so they can cross him and hit him with whatever they have. Seems like they've given just enough for the defense to think that AM has to take the stand to address some of this stuff. Not sure what else the defense can do at this point. The strategy of trying a case if very interesting. Kind of like a sporting event if you think about it.

Also the data shows when the arrived at his Mom's house he drove into the back yard and then his phone showed he moved 192 steps -Before he called the house and asked them to open up the front door

Being a mastermind to have them killed is not murder, there is a difference. One does not equal the other.

Have you seen it? They interviewed the kids on the boat, the kids' families that were on the boat. They all said Paul was driving. And they all said Alex and his dad were at the hospital trying to get the kids to say they didn't know who was driving the boat b/c they needed a lawyer, didn't really care if they were ok. Do I believe them over the Murdaughs?? Absolutely. The lawyer AM tried to set the fall guy up with ended up being, unbeknownst to the family of the kid, Paul's godfather...and the lawyer that helped AM scam families out of insurance money from mysterious deaths.

So your answer is yes, which is enough said. Wronged people never lie about people they were wronged by after all, you know. If there was evidence to that you don’t think the state would used that when addressing his character?

Yeah, they initially didn't think they had it. I'm thinking they had it the whole time, they were holding out. I think they're trying to paint the defense into a corner where they feel like they have to put AM on the stand. I still say the state has something they haven't disclosed yet, and they're waiting on the chance to cross AM. If they call AM, then you know they're desperate.

Yes, they were wronged by the Murdaughs. That trial is going to be wild.

I haven't followed every day. I believe they have used other examples to attack his character, but they can't say much about the boat case as they are restricted on how much they can talk about it due to the pending trial. There's a reason his defense team pushed to have the boat case trial postponed. They need it still lingering so none of it is admissible in the murder trial.

That would be a Brady violation and grounds for a new trial, at a minimum. "A “Brady Violation” is what happens when the prosecutors in a criminal case fail to perform their constitutional duty to turn over helpful evidence to the people they have charged with crimes."

Not new evidence, per se, but perhaps a new line of questioning or tactic? I'm no legal scholar, but I would imagine the prosecution has something they're planning on surprising him with. I could be wrong, but I don't think the defense was ready for the vehicle GPS data.

Per various newspaper accounts of the testimony ... "However, during cross-examination, the defense pointed out that at the time Murdaugh drove past the area where Maggie's phone was found, he didn't slow down."

"GPS data from Murdaugh's SUV and cellphone data also shows Murdaugh tried to call 911 but misdialed less than 20 seconds after he arrived at the kennels where the bodies of his son and wife were, a short distance from their home. After about another 20 seconds, Murdaugh completed the emergency call and told the 911 operator he checked them to see if they were alive."

Also, the "short" distance from the hosue was a couple of football fields away...
