I've lived in Virginia since 2000, attended Virginia Commonwealth University(VCU) and for my fellow Gamecocks who don't know

You're dealing with an obnoxious fanbase on Saturday. Old Dominion fans were by far the worst in the conference during my time in college. One of their pleasures is screaming in your ear the whole time, insulting your team and/or you or your significant other trying to incite you to do something, and if you should turn around and merely ask them if they wouldn't mind toning it down you're just trying to enjoy the game, their Justin Bieber looking behinds(keeping it pg here) wanna pretend to be hardcore and see if they can get you to throw down with them(they'd get beat down quickly).

To sum up, if you took Clemson cow college and put it in Norfolk, Virginia you'd have Old Dominion University!

It’s not in Norfolk, it’s in Richmond! Are you from Virginia?

So a fan views opposing fans as rude and cretins in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Anyone else wonder if is this phenomena has any chance of spreading to other parts of the country.

I've been to several games at Clemson. I've read accounts on here about a-hole Clemson fans. I'm sure they have some. But I've never been mistreated there. I can't say the same about Athens or Baton Rouge.

Same for me. Never had an issue with Clemson fans, and I've been to games there wearing Gamecock gear sitting with the Clemson fans. Of course there's ribbing that goes on.

It's a family friendly atmosphere. But it's been 20 years since I last went. Alabama also seemed family friendly.

Maybe the vulgar element has been weeded out of ODU since Blaine Taylor got fired in 2013, but I doubt it.

Having lived in Virginia since 1990ish (boy I miss the south),
any school from the large Metropolitan areas here have obnoxious fans.

Gen. Robert E. Lee was a Virginian. Richmond is a slightly northern Charleston and Savannah.

There are certainly parts of Virginia that are still southern, but the folks in those areas are far outnumbered by the people in the non-southern parts.

Virginia is kind of like New York. You've got the Alexandria/Fairfax area which dominates the rest of the state. But you get outside of that area and it's not too bad.

Same here. Born and raised in Richmond.

As for ODU, I've stated on other threads that they are committed to fielding a quality football program. And the 757 area code is full of top talent. They might be a tough out.

I know Virginia Tech got burned a couple of times in the past for underestimating them.

I've been to Georgia, Clemson, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi State, Tennessee, and Auburn and never had any trouble with any fan base.
