I have zero problem paying players and didn’t before the ncaa said go ahead. But I draw the line somewhere around stealing from kids with cancer.Well there's that. But dirty pasts sure don't stop other teams that truly want to win. I was speaking more to the paying players thing
I know Auburn/Opelieka is a larger place ... but auburn has a Target downtown. I've never seen a Target like that..... regardless, Starkville needs this. Folks from many many miles around would shop there. (No sarcasterics)The lack of a Target raises its ugly head again! Selmon needs to get on this YESTERDAY!!!
Well then, let’s rock and roll. I never saw those tapes or followed the story that closelyThe money stolen from the cancer patient was primarily directed to two football players... as the FBI tapes showed, Wade and others were getting their money from the shoe companies
It was Derek Fisher. I believe Wimp Sanderson was their coach that year. They beat us that year but..." ULer" as they pronounce it in Little Rock, had a once in a lifetime player. He played for the lakers. Forget his name.
Also, I worked a career fair there once ... a decade ago, there is a plaque on the sidewalk on campus that memorializes that "ULer" was once a juco.
I said this in the extension thread. I know for a fact that Jans has said in some shape or form that Starkville isn’t for him. It’s pretty well known among the folks close to the basketball program that Jans isn’t a fan of Starkville and wants out.
Selmon has been working on a list for a while. Probably why you haven’t seen an extension as well.
At some point you have to start asking why. I personally would like to know. There’s no logical reason to leave us for Arkansas. They aren’t any more prestigious than us anymore, they’ve long since lost the label of ‘national title worthy’.Just let him go. It’s obvious he doesn’t want to be here.
Was this the Wimp Sanderson game? My understanding is that we scheduled the game because Richard Williams and Wimp we’re buddies. I sat behind the UALR bench and could everything Wimp said, he was funny as hell without trying to be funny. They beat us that year but..." ULer" as they pronounce it in Little Rock, had a once in a lifetime player. He played for the lakers. Forget his name.

He doesn’t want an extension. He wants to leave. An extension would only hurt his chances to do so.Jan’s should have been locked up with an extension/raise after the tournament game, especially with the coaching carousel going on.
That is a ridiculous statement. Sure, they had a bad year this year, but the three previous years they made two Elite Eight’s and a Sweet 16. We haven’t won a tournament game since 2008. Arkansas also gets great attendance in a huge arena while we can’t sell out our little 9,200 seat arena unless we’re playing Ole Miss or Kentucky. Arkansas is 10 times the job MSU is in basketball. Let’s not be silly here.At some point you have to start asking why. I personally would like to know. There’s no logical reason to leave us for Arkansas. Farrrt. Coaches look at potential. Arkansas is nothing but another program like anybody else. It’s ain’t 1995.Arkansas is 10 times the job MSU is in basketball. Let’s not be silly here.
How do you know that, he may be interviewing because he was not given a raise/extensionHe doesn’t want an extension. He wants to leave. An extension would only hurt his chances to do so.
Because he has said it to folksHow do you know that, he may be interviewing because he was not given a raise/extension
Word. The only problem with Wade, how long would he be here before some richy Rich basketball powerhouse came and scooped him away. But yeah he’s who I’d target when Jans leaves. If he leaves, get Will Wade and let’s ride.
I have no idea on what Jan’s thinks of his job here. When he tells folks Starkville is not for him and they are obviously State people. what are his reasons? You seem to know a lot about this topic just curious. Is it the town? Is it the lack of support of the basketball teams from an attendance perspective? Or is something else driving him away?Because he has said it to folks
Arkansas is light years ahead of MSU in terms of potential, prestige, whatever you want to call it.Farrrt. Coaches look at potential. Arkansas is nothing but another program like anybody else. It’s ain’t 1995.
I do think that attendance part is legit, if true. Our attendance has held us back for years.
Silly.Arkansas is 10 times the job MSU is in basketball. Let’s not be silly here.
Geez. No wonder coaches want to leave, when our fans spew shlt like this. And are willing to argue with any and everybody about it too.Arkansas is light years ahead of MSU in terms of potential, prestige, whatever you want to call it.
MSU is legitimately not even a Top 50 job in men’s basketball. We have a higher profile in football…..let that sink in.
Maybe they want to leave because our fans have unrealistic expectations and schitt all over the coaches and players when those are not met. Arkansas has more Sweet 16 appearances in the last four year than we have in our entire history. We can’t fill up the arena for an important SEC game but 11,000 people will sit out in the cold to watch our baseball team play VMI. We don’t have a good basketball history or basketball culture. Arkansas does.Geez. No wonder coaches want to leave, when our fans spew shlt like this. And are willing to argue with any and everybody about it too.
Well I mean it’s fact. We aren’t on their level.Geez. No wonder coaches want to leave, when our fans spew shlt like this. And are willing to argue with any and everybody about it too.
Anyone with any objectivity would know Arkansas is a much better basketball program than State and has been for some time. It’s not shítting on State when it’s actually a true statement.Geez. No wonder coaches want to leave, when our fans spew shlt like this. And are willing to argue with any and everybody about it too.
It’s just not his fit. Doesn’t believe he can win at the level he wants to. And he just isnt a fan of the area.I have no idea on what Jan’s thinks of his job here. Concur with this, if Beard stays in Oxford, he's gonna pass Jans in a couple off years. We need someone like Wade to complete. If he leaves, get Will Wade and let’s ride.
This. He has not been shy about saying it to Starkville people. It’s just not his fit. Doesn’t believe he can win at the level he wants to. And he just isnt a fan of the area.
Is there any link to this or is this third hand internet here say ?Because he has said it to folks
Tuberville was hosting recruits and out at dinner when he left Texas Tech for Cincinnati. He was selling the recruits on Texas Tech then literally left in the middle of dinner. If someone doesn't like it in Vegas, what is he selling recruits on? "Come here, and then we can leave together for my next gig"?
This should not be a surprise because every stop seems to be a stepping stone for Jans. Look at his coaching history. The dude is a vagabond and Las Cruces is the only place he’s been for more than two.Don't yall know MSU basketball is a stepping stone for coaches like Jans. I'm surprised he didn't take the Wichita State job. Big city lights, great fanbase for basketball, and certain they would exceed his salary at MSU. And same attributes with the Hogs in Fayetteville. MSU is a small market team. In fact, I'm still surprised we were able to get Ben Howland at the time we did. Ben just needed to hire a really good defensive mind, but he went instead with his AAU coaches to recruit instead of coaching ability.....and it cost him. MSU has to have a small town solid coach who likes small living. Nothing we can do about it.....it's just who we are.
At this point, my biggest worry is Hubbard. Jans may try to take him with him. And then both of them will be next in line to lose to Mississippi State on the reg in Pigville….Maybe get him a place that can do new mexico enchiladas or throw sand everywhere
A lot of Auburn folks dislike that Target and the greater effort to raise the skyline. As someone who has been regularly wheeled to Targets over the years, I can't understand the hype...I know Auburn/Opelieka is a larger place ... but auburn has a Target downtown. I've never seen a Target like that..... regardless, Starkville needs this. Folks from many many miles around would shop there. (No sarcasterics)
