1st off Target sux. (Sorry Megan)
If you have millions of $$ who the 17 goes to target? Target is nothing but a glorified 17ing wal mart with big 17ing red balls in front of store

2nd if I am working somewhere, no way would I vocalize that I hate the area and want out.

3rd who are these people Jan’s is telling he hates Starkville

4th. Typical ms state fans feeling like victims and waiting for the sky to fall and ruin the Mecca of college baseball

Each time I see this, I wonder if the person shops at the nicest Walmart in the world or the worst Target in the world.

Target and Walmart are both big box retail, but the ones I shop are noticeably different in appearance, cleanliness, organization, and quality of non-commoditized product.

Time to bring back stans****

Being serious, if Jans hates Starkville then I’m guessing he’s hated every stop in his life. He grew up in a tiny town in Iowa and has coached at a collection of places that one one would confuse with NYC… maybe he likes corn fields
Exactly. More to it than that. It may be NIL, crowd support, new AD that didn’t hire him, whatever. But going to Arkansas sure seems more like a way out, rather than a jump to a better job. Doesn’t sound like a Vic to Texas or Mullen to Florida/Tennessee sort of thing.

You go to Iowa targets rather than the 2 in Mississippi

Farrrt. Coaches look at potential. Arkansas is nothing but another program like anybody else. It’s ain’t 1995.

I do think that attendance part is legit, if true. Our attendance has held us back for years.
I do think that crappy basketball has held back our attendance for years.

Send him on his way. Our fans prefer baseball because you don't need to get up and make noise. Also, wrt basketball, you can't grill at your seat. Let's just convert the hump into cold storage for the LFG
This boy here 👆is freaking genius! The Hump would make a great parking garage! The basketball teams could play in the Sanderson Center and their parents could bring Lawn Chairs to sit in to watch them play. It would be a real intimate setting. Candy Man could get the moms to go "Maroon!"and the dads to go "White!"

We have to rise above that if we want to move the program forward. We have to go above and beyond - that means showing up BEFORE we have a reason to do so. Mullen showed us exactly how to do this in this day and age.

But hey, if now, we will just be happy hiring and firing until we get lucky and land a good coach that actually WANTS to stay here. And we will continue to get our typical results.

Maybe they want to leave because our fans have unrealistic expectations and schitt all over the coaches and players when those are not met. Arkansas has more Sweet 16 appearances in the last four year than we have in our entire history. We can’t fill up the arena for an important SEC game but 11,000 people will sit out in the cold to watch our baseball team play VMI. We don’t have a good basketball history or basketball culture. Arkansas does.
Arkansas has built a hell of a Baseball Culture too. And their fans fill their football stadium even when they suck on the chance they might beat Eastern Kentucky. Maybe people should check the population of Northwest Arkansas before before even trying to compare the two programs. I am sure you will see that within a 1 hour drive there are between 300k and 350k Hog Fans. Within an hour drive of Starkville there might be 90k a 4th of who are Alabama fans and at least 50% of the rest are Ole Miss fans. Let me know when Arkansas has a split likes that.

Alabama has a top athletic department and budget
Yes Alabama’s resources are needed and produced from football. basketball is another matter. Gonzaga, St Mary’s , Drake, Utah State, San Diego state don’t have the resources we do. P5 schools like Kansas, Indiana, Louisville for years had good Basketball programs without a decent football program. BB doesn’t take a huge budget and 3 players out of the portal with a good coach may be all that’s needed.

Can’t blame at Jans for looking around. He gets half *** fan support at a program that had been to one NCAAT in the 12 years prior to arrival. We sit around and ***** about MBB and would rather discuss what our previous women’s basketball coach is doing at Texas. It’s pathetic. Our fanbase is lame as hell

Not to mention, Target is absolutely loved by women and young ladies. Having a Target would be attractive for female students. It would be Starkville's Stanley cup.

No sarcasterics.

On today’s T&L, Robbie Faulk went on record saying Jan’s has already been offered north of $4M a year in a new contract. So, any delays or refusals aren’t coming from us.

My current best case scenario is that we don’t extend him and he has to coach his a$$ off next season to try and find a gig.

I guess the elephant in the room is the ripple effect that the KY search will cause. He could still bounce in the next week or so….

Why wouldnt your best case scenario involve Jans getting an extension(so not having one cant be used against MSU in recruiting), perhaps modify the extension's buyout terms in favor of MSU, and Jans coaches the team to yet another NCAA Tournament next season?

^ that seems a lot less petty and more protective for MSU.

I don’t see why we wouldn’t want to extend him. He’s done pretty well here. I don’t think he’d have a hard time getting another job either.

The recruiting aspect is much less consequential with NIL…. They will come and go no matter what.

The point, which you’ve missed entirely, is that he just doesn’t seem to want to be here. He’s been extended an offer, and apparently publicly humiliated by the pigs. And he still hasn’t accepted.

This guy isn’t Dan Mullen. He’s not worth bending the knee for….

Both can vary greatly by location. Have you been to the Target in north JXN lately? Don't.

Maybe Jans was offered an extension and turned it down so he could play the field a little.

Especially with the carousel going for the KY job now. They won’t get a top target, but it will be enough to cause a ripple through the P5.

Selmon, who is also mindful of his next big job opportunity, did the right thing here. He took the high road and offered him a fair contract that is, at least, commensurate with what we’ve gotten from Jans.

If Jans accepts, he’ll have a buyout. If not, we’ll know he’s officially gone after next season. I’m good with either, at this point.

So you know this for a fact and you are privy to the details of the contract ?

I still can’t believe this all start because SMU fired their coach.

If we’re pushed out of the SEC or left out of a Super League because we suck at football, say bye to the welfare checks we get every year to funnel toward baseball.
We cannot be left out or pushed out of the SEC. We can however, be competing for a sub D1 type football championship while maintaining our scheduled opponents within the SEC. All the other sports will still compete for the same trophies they have been. Just a guess.....but if the SEC ended up with 20 teams, probably 6-8 of them might compete for a championship at a slightly lower level in football only. The others will compete for the regular D1 NC.

His most populated stop was Las Cruces. While that area is several times bigger than Starkville. El Paso/Juarez is just a short drive down the interstate. You're talking about 2-3 million population there. Of course, Juarez is not like it used to be back in the 70's and 80's. Was a fun trip to go into Juarez to see bullfights and experience some real Mexican food and bars. Plus, all the leather, silver, & turquoise products at phenomenal prices. Nowadays, it' pretty dangerous unless you know your way around REAL well.
