Does this Saturday’s game against the gofers concern you? We know what happened the last time we played there. 😞 OBVIOUSLY. o_O , there is a lot more at stake this time around.

By all accounts, PSU should win this game, but MINNY. o_O isn’t horrible. They’re at home, and a win over PSU would make their season, and ruin ours. The gofers should be plenty pumped.

How do you see it?

Implied odds give us about a 78% chance of winning, which sounds about right. It's a game that we can certainly lose if we don't play well...but if we can avoid turnovers, convert our red zone chances into touchdowns, and get the performance from the defense that we've been seeing, we should win.

I was there for that debacle in 2019. Still can't believe Dotson tripped over the 20 yard line on what should have been a sure TD.

Anyway, I had my concerns about that game until Minny laid that giant egg at Rutgers two Saturdays ago. Their offense is very limited but they do have a decent offensive line. I'd imagine it would be a little like playing against Bowling Green on that side of the ball. Put a little pressure on the QB and watch him flail around. Defensively, they're very susceptible to a good passing game. Hell, they let Kaliakmanis throw for 3 TDs against them and he's average at best. I feel like we should comfortable cover the spread and with it being a 3:30 game, there won't be any alarm clock issues like with noon starts.

They are sometimes a nemesis for us despite their record, etc., so your points are valid.
It'll be cold. Just for us, of course - not for them. ;)
They are usually huge on the OL, have a good RB, and therefore run the ball efficiently, so that can be frustrating. The QB is also efficient, not flashy. I just hope he doesn't channel the essence of Fran Tarkenton against us.
We have been a little predictable at times with Beau and Warren, at least until last game, so I'd expect us to change up something in those plays. We gave 'em something to fret over with the fun stuff we put in for Purdue with those two.
I expect they will do just as you suggest, come out attacking and with nothing to lose, and play sky-high for a few series. We may have to survive that, meaning not let their emotion get them out to a score and a stop and another score. Get their feet back on the ground, let the talent imbalance for us take over.
They don't score a ton in most games, just enough to win a few close games.
I feel good that we will win, but maybe by a rather pedestrian score like 28-14, similar to Wisconsin. Tough first half, solid 2nd half. Drew with 2 TD passes (Dinkins and Wallace), Warren with a TD run, Nick with a TD run. 2 4th Qtr interceptions for the D. Put a bow on that Gopher and get ready for the Twerps.

Let's not talk about the Minnesota game... :ROFLMAO: Seriously, we are not the 2019 team. We have a few decent receivers and two solid move the chains type backs. Where we have been extremely weak for much of the season is on the offensive line. At times the group has been very...offensive. I am hopeful that "our" Gophers will give a spirited effort, but I don't know that it will matter.

The weather so far is clear but cold. Might be a run heavy game. Seeing that we've forgotten how to run the ball, It could get ugly.

Of course, I hope that I am wrong, but.

If Cadillacanus can look like a Heisman Trophy winner against MINNY. o_O , then Allar should…😞

I could be wrong but I view Minny as an Illinois type team. They'll keep it a 1 score game in the 1st half with tough play and ball control which will limit our Time of Possession but as time goes on our talent will wear them down and our Defense will start to suffocate them. We'll win by 2 or more scores depending on a late score after the game is no longer in doubt.

PSU gives up 14 ppg. Minny gives up 18 ppg.

PSU scores 33 ppg. Minny scores 27 ppg.

Bowling countered to our heavy pass rush with a lot of quick release passes. Minny will try to do the same thing.

I think PSU wins if they keep Minny under 20 pts. Just don't over pursue against quick short passes.

Watching the Minnesota men’s basketball team play right now and I’m not nervous about that game at all. They suck, our team should boat race them.

Yes. Terrible is being kind. The few players we had either turned pro (Christie) or took the NIL money and ran. Though I like coach Johnson, I don't know if he'll be around much longer.

Fair and pretty accurate. I am hopeful that we can keep it close. Rutgers just left a horrible impression. I know that their coaches know our program, but they outplayed us.

I’m a fan of both teams and an alumni of both schools. Was at the 2019 game, front row, in a Saquon jersey and gopher hat and gloves. Was happy for Goldy that year (we didn’t deserve to win the game, “they” did), but PSU will steamroll Minnesota this year.

Been to several Gopher games this year and the offense is just hard to watch. Clunky, sputtering, inconsistent. The USC game was fun, but the Rutgers game exposed many weaknesses on this team, namely the offensive line. 11 should have a fun day, assuming he isn’t held like he was at Purdue. Occasionally you’ll see Minny break off a nice run, or a slant across the middle that gives you a glimpse of the 2019 team, but it’s just too few and far between to be threatening. Minnesota a good secondary so the name of the game will be short to mid passes and lots of running.

Franklin needs to have the boys ready, eyes in the prize, but I’m not too worried. PSU 38, Minnesota 17. And I just hope both teams have fun. 🤩

I hope "we" can keep it a little closer, but I think that you may be proven correct. Your description mirrors what I've seen. The only thing I would add is that Brosmer (the QB) does tend to make descent decisions. You won't have to worry about bombs. He tends to throw only short to medium range passes.

Another gimme win from Penn State’s weak 2024 schedule. Minnesota poses no threat to Penn State.

The only way this game will be close is if there are Penn State coaching blunders like going on 4th down deep in Penn State’s territory early in the game.

I'm sick and tired of the team winning and then the coaches decide to intervene.

Very true on Brosmer. Guy doesn’t really turn the ball over. That said, if you look at his stat lines by game, he also doesn’t throw TDs against good defenses, and PSU will be the toughest he has seen this year. He is basically a 1:1 TD to INT ratio against good teams.

I wish I could be at the game this year, but I needed to head back to PA for an aging grandparents surprise birthday party. Ski U Mah!

The last two times I went to Minny for the game PSU lost (2000,2019)

I am not going to this game.

You are welcome Nittany Nation.
I was at that 2000 game. Joe was completely detached, standing completely away from the coaching staff with his arms folded and having very little interaction with the players.

I think Michigan and Illinois have good defenses.

Brosmer threw for 258 yds against Michigan and Minny scored 24 pts.
Brosmer threw for 213 yds against Illinois and Minny scored 25 pts.

Minnesota is only allowing 17.7 pts per game. I expect PSU to do a little better than that but I think the defense has to hold Minny to 20 pts to be safe.
