Mount Rushmore of TV theme songs

[T-TownDawgg]

I actually bought the Miami Vice single.

I tap my foot to the old Law And Order intro every time.

Married with Children is Sinatra gold, so it’s in

Tour of Duty had Paint it Black by the Stones. Very apropos.

I forgot about Tour of Duty. Great intro.

And a hearty 17 you to NBC for not allowing them to finish the series. The way the series finale ended was incredibly sad.

Never said there was anything wrong with that...

[DawgInThe256]

Rolling Stone did a Top 100 TV Theme Songs list a while back. It had a few too many modern entries for my taste, but just reminded me of how many good ones there have been. If I had to pick 4, I'd go with the ones that wouldn't cause me to change the channel if they came on the radio.

- Rockford Files
- Malcolm in the Middle
- Phineus & Ferb
- Hill Street Blues

[IBleedMaroonDawg]

I can't believe no one has put this up. It might be a bit for the older crowd.

[Darryl Steight]

Shitt I completely forgot one important one: The Six Million Dollar Man. "We will rebuild him..."

[CharlieWinfield]

Hill Street Blues
Cheers
MASH
And shout out to DawgInthe256 for the Phineas and Ferb reference.

[Xenomorph]

The undisputed Mount Rushmore of TV theme songs...

[BrunswickDawg]

Was going to say, this should bring out the generation gaps on the board. Always pictured the board as GenX/Mil but a lot of Boomer stuff here. As one, give me
MASH
Rockford Files
Hawaii 5 O
Mission Impossible
sleeper - Mannix

But as noted, I could go with a lot of ... that's a good one too.

A lot of us Gen Xers watched a ton of reruns in the 70s and 80s

[Xenomorph]

Absolutely... Sunday mornings waiting to get ready for church was nothing but Rawhide, Lost in Space, Hawaii 5-0.. heck yeah.

[HailStout]

[HailStout]

I don’t know about opening, but this is your best closing music

[HailStout]

And here is your winner:

[HailStout]

A lot of us Gen Xers watched a ton of reruns in the 70s and 80s

People younger than Gen X will never understand the concept of watching whatever was on TV. When I was young, you had three, maybe four choices. You picked the one that was the best out of those four and watched it no matter what it was.

[dog12]

Laverne and Shirley?
SWAT?

Mister Rogers?
Sesame Street?

[Dawgg]

Friends, Big Bang Theory maybe?, X-Files, Buffy

Putting the Big Bang Theory on any list that isn't "things that suck the most" should get a ban hammer.

That is why they just had the writers strike. Too much stuff. Too many writers, too many shows, and a plethora of absolute nothing.

[Dawgg]

I'm going to dismiss anything that's not an original song, so though I love The Who, that eliminates all the CSI's, as well as Tour of Duty, China Beach, and Married with Children.

It's tough and I could probably be talked out of these and into another great one, but have to go with (in no certain order):

Knight Rider

Dukes of Hazzard

Miami Vice

Dallas

Honorable Mention: Space 1999 because it is wild, disjointed, and gave you clips of the actual episode.

[DawgsGoneWild]

Quincy Jones was the ****

[BossDawg78]

The A-Team....duh

[OopsICroomedmypants]

How about good ol Buddy and Kay from the Tupelo morning show for fun.

As for sitcoms it has to include:

1. Dukes of Hazzard
2. Andy Griffith
3. The Simpson’s

I was born late ‘70s so there you go

[Crazy Cotton]

Two that should be on the list:
My name is Earl

Hawaii 5-0

[RotorHead]

The Pacific (this is the GOAT)
Sopranoes
Sons of Anarchy
Dukes of Hazard

I’m slightly disappointed that this fine junto did not mention the Pacific’s theme song.

[kired]

It’s alright, cause I’m saved by the bell

Teenage mutant ninja turtles, teenage mutant ninja turtles, teenage mutant ninja turtles, heroes in a half shell… turtle power

in west Philadelphia born and raised…

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire… The A-Team

[Mayor of Little London]

[Mayor of Little London]

I don’t know about opening, but this is your best closing music

WKRP

[CochiseCowbell]

And a hearty 17 you to NBC for not allowing them to finish the series. The way the series finale ended was incredibly sad.

I wish I could give this more upvotes.

[cactus.sixpack]

Like others have mentioned
Magnum PI
Rockford Files
A-Team
Dallas
Hill Street Blues

and these gems

[CochiseCowbell]

The Pacific (this is the GOAT)
Sopranoes
Sons of Anarchy
Dukes of Hazard

I’m slightly disappointed that this fine junto did not mention the Pacific’s theme song.

If Miniseries count, this was better:

[QuaoarsKing]

[cactus.sixpack]

Also, Saturday morning in the 80’s this would make me run through a brick wall. “Yelllo ev’rybody!”

[Lettucexxxx]

In no particular order:

• Sopranos
• Cheers
• Sanford & Son
• Dallas

Next 4 out:

• Fresh Prince of Bel Air
• Magnum P.I.
• Succession
• Bonanza

[RebChuck]

OG MNF was the best

[thatsbaseball]

Nm

[Boom Boom]

Putting the Big Bang Theory on any list that isn't "things that suck the most" should get a ban hammer.

Counterpoint: Penny is hot.

[Bulldog from Birth]

MacGyver was one I loved

[Bulldog45]

The Fall Guy

Simon & Simon

Happy Days

The Wonder Years
