Name the most underrated/forgotten Penn State football starter you can think of.

When talking about the best RBs ever, Larry Johnson is usually an afterthought. He was a one man wrecking crew, particularly later in the season. He eclipsed 2K and had no All BIG O-linemen in front of him. Didn’t show for the bowl game though. Miserable day.

This is exactly what came to my mind as well. He just made it look so damn easy I think everyone thought it WAS easy for him.

He ran with a mean streak like nobody I’ve ever seen at the college level.

Shelly Hammonds
Shelly Hammonds, a converted safety filling in at running back replacing an injured Gary Brown, rushed for 218 yards and two second-half touchdowns against Boston College. Both teams entered the game 3-2 I think and he saved the day for Penn State. He was a guy who even after that game said he wanted to play defense but did what was best for the team.

Skeeter Nichols - loved the name.
I was in the White building shooting hoops and was asked if I wanted to play one-on-one. I could shoot outside pretty well (where was the 3-point line when I was around!) but I couldn't stop my opponent. If I guarded him close, he blew by me. I mean blew by me. Incredibly fast first step. When I stayed back, he'd hit a jumper. After he beat me 21 to 12, I heard someone call him, "Hey Skeeter!" Then I knew and quickly looked his bio up. He was an all-state forward in high school.

Mike Guman was a very accomplished hoopster.
