How about Talor Battle, Asst coach at Northwestern?
Lavar! How about Talor Battle, Asst coach at Northwestern?
No one comes to our home games. Attendance is pathetic and the BJC is a morgue. Who would want to coach in that atmosphere?Despite Penn State being a strong brand with good resources and a member of the b1g, the school obviously is not in a position of strength in hiring a new coach. One good year, making the conference tournament final and winning a game over a higher seed in the ncaa tournament, and the coach leaves. It’s pathetic that Penn State is a stepping stone.
He also might be the kind to stay if he has success. If he doesn’t, we’re not that much worse off than we’ve been for years. Fire him and find someone else. I would rather take a chance on someone who might stay if they have success than bring in someone who will leave after the first tournament appearance.Adam Fisher is a possibility. He is well liked by the players and apparently a good recruiter. He has some coaching experience and is most likely affordable. I’m not sure he moves the needle much though with respect to having a big name reputation but we don’t seem to be in a position to attract that sort of name. Maybe we can take a run at the Princeton coach, Mitch Henderson, who is rumored to make only about $168,000 per year.
No - he failed there.(at Georgetown)Patrick Ewing. We need a big name.

average person - "I didn't know PSU had a women's team"I thought there may be changes in women's coach-that program has not progressed like PSu had hoped
Will not have any impact whatsoever. Athletics operates independently of the rest of the University.Correct me if I'm wrong on this since there are many posters more knowledgeable about funding for the sports teams. Does PSU men's and women's basketball generate their own revenue? Since PSU is in the midst of slashing jobs across the board and deep in doo doo debt, could that have an impact on how much money is going to be earmarked for another coach? PSU has low-balled coaches hires before during good economic times, how much more could this affect with less alumni donations, severe apathy in program attendance, and more pressing priorities than fielding even a mediocre team on the court?

Many-faceted question, so I'll provide simple answers:Correct me if I'm wrong on this since there are many posters more knowledgeable about funding for the sports teams. He would just leave for an opening in Indiana too.Norman Dale
When you say most recent basketball ticket sales were $625k what are you referring to? There is absolutely no way this is for the 22-23 season.Many-faceted question, so I'll provide simple answers:
a. women's basketball operates in the red, lots of it.
b. men's basketball generates a surplus of about $2.5mm. Take away Big Ten revenue sharing, to which PSU contributes precious little, and it's in the hole to the tune of about $6.5mm.
Here'something to chew on: most recent basketball ticket sales totaled $625K. Same number for tOSU: $5.2mm.
Most recent reported which is the 2021-22 season. Attendance in 22-23 was lower. When you say most recent basketball ticket sales were $625k what are you referring to? There is absolutely no way this is for the 22-23 season.

It’s the Penn State way.Raise ticket prices. Problem solved.
Something seems way off here….total reported attendance for 21-22 is roughly 128,000 (8,500/game). That works out to an average ticket price of under $5.Most recent reported which is the 2021-22 season. Attendance in 22-23 was lower.
Yeah, it is off, but I can't tell you why. In the previous two non-Covid seasons, sales were reported at $1.5mm for 19-20 and $966k for 18-19. Even if the larger number is more indicative, there is still a long way to go to match someplace like OSUSomething seems way off here….total reported attendance for 21-22 is roughly 128,000 (8,500/game).
