I used to vote in those things until I woke up and realized nobody really cares what the alumni at large think. Even if I'm wrong about that, the board has been bloated to the extent that the alumni elected trustees influence is negligible.

The incumbents up this year are Alvin DeLevie, Brandon Short, and Steve Wagman.
Former PSU QB Matt McGloin is also running - and is on a slate w Alvin D.
Once we know for sure which others may be running, I will post an update TTBOMK.
Alvin is not all about football.I don’t know much about Wagman, at least nothing comes to mind, but with the others, it’s football, football, and more football.

Like by not showing up to meetings?could anyone do worse?
Aside from Barry, they've accomplished nothing. Barry, alone, can't move the mountain, but he tries and no one else has. If no one tries, then PSU never gets better.Honestly question that Barry can probably answer. Have the alumni board members accomplished anything in their role? I understand from reading here how the board is stacked against them so don’t take this as a knock, but I’m just wondering what they are actually capable of accomplishing.

9 people doing the job - regardless of how they got on the Board - could probably do significant good, IMO.Honestly question that Barry can probably answer. LOL, yep. It will be open ballot season on the board. Its the only time they ever show up begging for votes.
True thatIf no one tries, then PSU never gets better.
or somethingCareful. As we’re getting close to election time, some of the alumni-elected trustees are expected to make their annual appearance among the unwashed (us). They’ll contradict you with facts, or something.
Too easy. You need to make a list that includes Charleroi and North Versailles.I want to hear each candidate pronounce DuBois before I vote
The "something" is that they're fighting to restore the legacy of Joe Paterno. Translation: they believe we're that stupid or they're even stupider than that.or something
Al and McGloin are joined at the hip. I ran into them at several functions at the Peach bowl including Neeli’s donor party, an NIL function and another private event. Plus they were constantly around the team hotel barThe incumbents up this year are Alvin DeLevie, Brandon Short, and Steve Wagman.

If McGloin gets elected to the BoT, he'll have lots of company.Al and McGloin are joined at the hip. Plus they were constantly around the team hotel bar trying to get noticed.
I won’t share a name but the two of them came up to me and a current player not to be name ad we were talking. I introduced them to the player. After they left, the player asked me to confirm who McGloin was. Then he said oh ok, I hear he’s a dick.I confirmed his info.

Does this include Jay?Aside from Barry, they've accomplished nothing. Barry, alone, can't move the mountain, but he tries and no one else has. If no one tries, then PSU never gets better.
What has Barry accomplished? Not knocking him, I just don’t see what 1 person can accomplishment on a board that large.Aside from Barry, they've accomplished nothing. Barry, alone, can't move the mountain, but he tries and no one else has. If no one tries, then PSU never gets better.
That’s what I’m asking though. What could they actually get accomplished?9 people doing the job - regardless of how they got on the Board - could probably do significant good, IMO.
Probably could be a lot of good done even with somewhat less than 9 (2? 4? 6?). From my vantage point I feel more strongly about that than I did a few years ago (even though I was trying to be hopeful then). But we'd have to see it to know.
To be honest, I think even 1 has had some impact - even in a relatively short amount of time - and some things are at least glimmering some hope... like transparency and accountability and the value of asking "Why?" and saying "No".
But there is such a long road yet to travel to get to the types of changes that are needed, and any impact would be greatly magnified by more.

Well, for one thing, the communication from Barry has been outstanding and that's a lot more than any other trustee has accomplished. In addition, you know that at least one trustee (Barry) actually cares about the University and in that you should find some comfort in addition to making the board leadership uncomfortable. I've begun to notice that some other trustee are beginning to ask questions so although change is slow it is happening. What has Barry accomplished? Not knocking him, I just don’t see what 1 person can accomplishment on a board that large.
He shows up, speaks up, and doesn't concede the field to the barbarians like the other alumni-elected trustees have. What has Barry accomplished? Not knocking him, I just don’t see what 1 person can accomplishment on a board that large.

It is for the other eight. So ”It is what it is” isn’t a strategery?
Who are the other eight? It is for the other eight.
