Oregon got him for his final OV this weekend, after our staff had their final in-home earlier this week. It doesn’t mean he’s a lock for there, but it’s enough to make you nervous. With our recruiting momentum, it would almost be too good to be true to land Harbor.

Shane has really been connecting with recruits and parents. From what I've read, Beamer has made a real impression with Harbor and also his parents (mom in particular) who want someone who will watch over their kid and his character building. Oregon is a long way from home and I feel pretty good about this one. Read that Clowney's accomplishments and growth here at SC were mentioned a lot in discussions. Hope I'm right.

Distance could definitely play a factor.

If Oregon brought out the cheerleaders on his visit, though, that’s a pretty big selling point.

As he's the top uncommitted prospect, it would be great buzz and exposure for us on national signing day if he picks us.

Heard NIL is going to be a big factor, so I guess we're out... I think we can muster up some free Bojangles for a year

I see where Tony Morrell predicted him to sign with us today. Hopefully he knows something we don't. I think we still have a decent shot but Oregon is clearly our biggest hurdle.

From all we can see on the outside looking in, he and his family have handled this well. I don't love that Oregon got the last shot at him, but hopefully he came back home, is talking over things with his family and is looking at the overall picture, instead of just getting swept off his feet by Oregon and making a snap decision.

He’s coming here but honestly he wants to be an Olympic sprinter. If that’s the case he’ll give Football up within a couple years. No way he’ll be able to put on the weight necessary to play TE or DE. I’d rather have him than not. But I really don’t expect much from him. At least as far as football goes, but who knows.

I dunno. There must be a reason he had offers from nearly every major program.

There is. Because he’s a freak athlete. Just some schools like Bama and osu don’t really care. They don’t want to waste a scholarship on someone that can’t put on the size necessary to play DE. Which is his natural position. Anything else and he’s playing out of position. I’m not against the take. Just don’t think he’ll be playing fb in two years. Jmho

Well if he has olympic class speed, let him be a Busta Anderson type & let him run routes.

He had scholarship offers from both of those programs though.

He can keep his same physique and be an awesome WR target.

I don’t think the last visit mean more than the longer relationship. I think Michigan was our only real competition in getting him but Jim keep entertaining the NFL and they’re being investigated gave us the lead.

I hope that’s right. Beamer has laid a ton of groundwork with him and his parents. Oregon is hoping to swoop in at the last minute and blow him away with eye candy. Harbor seems too grounded for that, but you just never know.

Or Chic-fila …but only if a visiting basketball player misses two foul shots in the 2nd half

Mama Harbor is a big factor and Shane's got it covered. Beamer is her choice to take care of her son.

Well, with the transfer portal he can actually go to both Oregon and Carolina over the course of his career.

The tea leaves appear to have taken an 11th hour turn west for this young man's services. Bummer. I hate nike.

I don't know what these guys base their projections on. Nyckoles and his family certainly aren't saying anything.
They have sources on coaching staffs. Harbor has already told all of the coaching staffs of his decision. All the schools know.

Well, it'll be deflating for him to choose Oregon, but hopefully we at least still land Mazeo.

Bennett is a 2024. Long time before we get dry ink with his name on it.
Yeah, hard to say. He's supposed to announce next week though. If we don't Harbor that'll be a bump in our current momentum, but could get some back if we land Bennett.

The outcome of this decision will be very telling.

If he chooses Oregon, it will send a clear signal that relationships in recruiting, no matter how strong and how long they have been nurtured, have been firmly bumped to the back seat by money. Why waste years of time and energy recruiting a guy if all that tips the scales is money?

Conversely, it he chooses us, it will be a strongly reaffirming message that relationships still matter.

Could be a paradigm shift in recruiting. There's no doubt our staff has the strongest relationship with Harbor and his family. They have poured themselves into recruiting Harbor. If another program with no relationship at all can swoop in at the 11th hour, offer a sweet NIL deal and get the recruit, then all those months of hard work are for nought.

The NIL deal with Champ Sports allows him to go where his mama wants him to go, regardless of money.
