What do you consider "way" better? How many points on a neutral field?
Not really a point thing cause I don’t gamble, it’s more a middle of the third quarter “no way we win this“ feeling. Remember, OSU did what they did AT O. I’ve watched Texas 4-5 times this year, I have no real feeling on how they compare to OSU.

You don't have to gamble. What is the average margin of victory for Team A to be "way" better than Team B?
To me, "way better" is more than a TD, so at least 7.5. Ohio State is probably close to this, but I don't believe that Oregon is.

Several times throughout the season I have heard people talk about whether or not PSU belongs ranked so highly or whether we even belong in the playoff (ridiculous!). We have no quality wins, have beaten only 1 ranked team (Illinois), lost to the only "good" team we played against with our strength of schedule being 32. However, I noticed that Texas, currently ranked ahead of us, has no quality wins, no wins against ranked teams, lost to the only "good" team they played (Georgia), and have a strength of schedule of 38, but I haven't heard anyone say that Texas shouldn't be ranked so highly or that they don't belong in the playoff. In fact, that team will more than likely be in their conference championship game. I will admit that I am not following Texas as closely as PSU, so maybe people are saying that about them and I just don't hear it.

Another issue I have is with Ohio St. People want to argue that they are the best team in the country (even though the lost to Oregon). People look at their schedule and say they have two quality wins (i.e. PSU and Indiana) but most of these same people are the ones saying that PSU and Indiana are so overrated. They can't have it both ways. If we (us and Indiana) aren't any good then we can't be Ohio St.'s quality wins. If we are their quality wins, then they have to admit we are pretty good.

My only criticism of an expanded playoff is that there will always be people complaining about who got in and who didn't. In the BCS days #3 complained. The last couple of years #5 complained. Now teams 10 - 15 or so are already complaining that they deserve to be in. There are 64 (or 68) teams in the NCAA tournament and there are still complaints about teams who didn't get in.
Herbstreit in particular is a wizard at talking out of both sides of his mouth when it comes to tOSU. He builds up Penn State and other opponents of tOSU when it is a benefit to Ohio State to do so. Then he poormouths those same teams when he talks about the playoff/BCS.

Chris Fowler posts something on Instagram in the evening each week after he broadcasts a game. A week or two ago, his Instagram post was from the private plane with Herbstreit and discussed the playoff. Herbie was pushing for more SEC teams in the playoff, at the expense of teams like Indiana. It was sickening--we might as well let the SEC go to 6 or 7 conference games so they have more playoff teams at this point. It is sad that Herbie has influence over the selection of CFB playoff teams.

Herbie doesn't have influence over the selection of CFB playoffs teams, and 2 weeks ago, on Fowler's IG post from the plane, Herbstreit was actually talking up Indiana, saying how good they were. When Fowler brought up whether there's any way Indiana doesn't make it, Herbstreit was confident they deserved to be in, and when Fowler said something to the effect of "even if they get their doors blown in by OSU?" Herbstreit still was talking positively as if Indiana was intrinsically really deserving, regardless. I saw absolutely nothing in the past 2 weeks from Fowler's IG where Herbstreit was doing what you claimed.

So, there's that.

You didn’t feel they had no shot early third quarter? It’s same old same old
They absolutely had a shot. Football is a game of momentum. It can change in a moments notice. The game was still very winnable. If Penn State gets that “non-fumble” call instead of it being overturned and the ball given back to Ohio State, it’s potentially a completely different football game. If you choose to be glass half empty, that’s on you.

or if there isn't an insanely lucky interception in the end zone or if PSU manages to punch it in from inside the 5.....there were a LOT of near misses and they nearly all went the other way

Wrong. You should have stopped at saying that Herbie has no influence over selection of CFB playoff teams. The guy has the most visible platforms in the sport. He has clearly had influence in past playoff selections, such as tOSU over Penn State in 2016, and he will continue to influence selections going forward.

Wrong. You should have stopped at not posting anything at all.

You're just talking completely unsupportable nonsense. Maybe the aliens influenced the selection of CFB playoff teams. You have as much proof of your assertion as the alien hypothesis.

And, yes, Herbstreit most definitely was VERY pro-Indiana in Fowler's IG. It was literally the exact opposite of what you claimed. I just watched it.

Can't say for sure that he had influence, but I won't forget the unusual angry look on his face when it was suggested that Penn State may be selected having won the Big Ten and beat OSU on the field. I don't remember something like that happening in the playoff era (and probably never will again), so you do have a point. I can't help but wonder if he would have shown such disdain toward Penn State getting in if it were anybody but Ohio State competing for that playoff spot. Loved the 31-0 shellacking Clemson laid on them in the playoff game.

All of it isn’t true…there, that was easy. And criticizing everything they do doesn’t make you unbiased, in fact it makes you very biased, just the other way. I’m still waiting to hear from you which team wins every game easily whether they’re playing a double digit underdog or not….still waiting.
Can't quote a single thing I said that isn't true, followed by childish strawman fallacies.

You're taking the L and moving on. You suck at this.

So they have to be perfect for you to consider them playing well…got it. And if you can’t enjoy a one point victory, or a ten point victory because they didn’t win by enough, then maybe sports isn’t your thing considering you have absolutely nothing to do with the outcome.
Nope. Never said anything close to that. Another weak strawman because you can't argue against the actual points I've made, so you have to invent some and then attack those. Pathetic.

Every win is a quality win except for Kent State and Purdue. They won the game against Minnesota, end of story…everything else you said about the game is your opinion and not fact, the only fact is they won. And again, no team wins all their games easily. Have you ever heard the saying “good teams find ways to win?” Likely not since you obviously never played a sport or coached one in your life….oh wait, let me guess, you had a stellar D-1 career (bwahaha). And I can judge that 10-1 is as good or better than every team in the country except one- are you able to analyze that or is that above your analytical abilities? And your biggest mistake is considering 10-1 to be mediocre. There, that was easy (mic drop).

When you actually make a point, let me know then I’ll make an argument against it.

You know nothing about football. The scoreboard is the limit of your understanding.

Stick to being a cheerleader, and try not telling people who are interested in more in depth analysis and who know more than you how to be fans.

You just keep piling up more fallacies (your latest: the false appeal to authority) because you have no argument.

You also have no idea what a mic drop is. Maybe try checking the records of the teams they've best this year. (Uh-oh... your argument is crumbling because you don't know anything about football or how to construct a coherent argument...!)

There you go. A tacit (if unwitting) admission of your defeat.

Move along, lad. Just wallow in the bliss of your ignorance, and when the season is over, you can lurch over to the next subject you know nothing about.

unrelenting negativity is not an argument, nor does it prove anything- and insults are not strength
