Bobby Bowden's bowl winning percentage .682.Yes, he only has the best bowl game record ever. We need more exposure that. He was not undefeated…just the best ever.
Joe Paterno's bowl winning percentage .662.
Math taught me .682 >.662.

MacNit, what if I told you that JoePa has the 18TH best bowl winning percentage ever? 18TH best. Stats don't lie.Objectivity? He has the best bowl record ever. So everyone else is worse.
He threw 3 picks and only by the generosity of this officiating crew did he get charged with 1.
Is franklins big game record a number or a narrative?Geez, how people forget the 1979 Sugar Bowl and a certain goal line stand or the 1986 Orange Bowl (two national championship game losses) to make it suit their incorrect narrative.
Is a playoff game a big game? Win or go home? Win or elimination? That's the very definition of a big game isn't it? Is a New Year's Six Bowl game a big game? Why are they called major bowl games then?Is franklins big game record a number or a narrative?
Again. Not. Just evaluating performance.Again. Moving goalpost. No objectvity.
Again. Not. Just evaluating performance.
Did we beat ND? Oregon? O$U? Michigan ? O$U? Mississippi? And so on. How many did we win? Zero? Not one or two or half or most or all. ZERO.
Joe has plenty of big wins under his belt when he “ returned” to work after those losses. More in one year than Franklin has had in his entire career. Heck Marcus Freeman does in last two weeks!I think the program is doing well and headed in the right direction. It took 16 years for Joe to be number 1. Joe played for a natty in his 12th year as head coach. Franklin just finished his 10th year as head coach, and had some serious issues to contend with. That was Notre Dame they played, and it was close. They made the final 4. There’s no shame in it. The sky isn’t falling. Franklin will get up and go back to work like Joe did after the 1978 loss to Alabama and the 1985 loss to Oklahoma. He‘ll keep working because that’s what he does.
How many times has that happened under a Franklin? Every game but 1 or 2 in 10+ years.I'm not reading through this thread, but here's what I saw last night.
It was a hard-fought game between two good and pretty evenly matched teams. And as is usually the case, games like that usually turn on a handful of plays. I saw two- the first quarter pass that Drew threw too low to Nick at the goal line that turned a TD into a FG- costing 4 points. And the then that last pass that turned victory into defeat at the end.
It's not complicated: you make a couple of mistakes like that and you lose.
Not only did I not forget, I attended the 1986 game.Geez, how people forget the 1979 Sugar Bowl and a certain goal line stand or the 1986 Orange Bowl (two national championship game losses) to make it suit their incorrect narrative.
We were a small favorite last night.Yes?…..but
OSU dog loss
O dog loss
SMU FAV WIN
BOISE FAV WIN
ND DOG LOSS
it’s like a pattern or something
Look at all the metrics. Paterno is #1.Bobby Bowden's bowl winning percentage .682.
Joe Paterno's bowl winning percentage .662.
Math taught me .682 >.662.
Got the most wins, only one to win all tne major bowls, etc, etc. the best!MacNit, what if I told you that JoePa has the 18TH best bowl winning percentage ever? 18TH best. Stats don't lie.

Number that has created the narrative. Is franklins big game record a number or a narrative?
I think we found Jay!Look at all the metrics. Paterno is #1.
He is certdinky better than Frankin!
Is tough to understand what happened with him at the end of last season. Just disappeared after starting off very well. Then transfers. Was he in a doghouse? Poor practice player? Etc.Actually Lambert Smith had a surprisingly good year:
50 catches / 981 yds / 19.6 ave / 8 TDs
More than just a trend for this program. It's a given each year.I predicted in 2022 that we would have a successful 2024 season.
Everything favored us this year, way more than anyone could have anticipated.
We had a bunch of seasoned upperclassmen with a ton of big game experience. Our O-line played out of their minds down the stretch. Nick and Fatman both had good seasons. We had a second-year, full-time starter at QB who was a blue chip HS recruit.
And best of all: we had an absolutely marshmallowy schedule.
In spite of this, we lost our only tough game. Again.
Then against all odds, we get handed an invite to the CCG where we lose to another good opponent.
Despite this, we get a red carpet path through the playoff where we get to knock off the two weakest opponents. Then we lose, yet again, to the third decent team we played this season.
So you see the trend?
You‘re really exaggerating.Joe has plenty of big wins under his belt when he “ returned” to work after those losses. More in one year than Franklin has had in his entire career. Heck Marcus Freeman does in last two weeks!
How many opportunities does he get? If you failed because of lack of preparation and poor decision-making and hiring at your job for 10 years plus, would you be afforded the luxury of trying again?
Name calling combined with number ignoring + superiority complex
Drew’s feet weren’t set all night…I’m still trying to wrap my head around what the heck happened in that Allar interception. The kid had a seesaw game, I really feel for him.
Not the Rose Bowl mentioned earlier, similar late pick eh?Trace wins a game like this. Kid was just tough and mentally prepared.
Too many pass interference calls on us in that game. Trace was mentally tough. Not the Rose Bowl mentioned earlier, similar late pick eh?
Dude, Oregon and tOSU lose a ton. And Beck went to D’uh and not those two…not that he’s great but I’m sure they were on him…This is a brutally tough schedule.
The OOC schedule is laughable, but then we open the B1G with Oregon (pencil that as an L), then we have Iowa and Ohio State as back to back road games? Both potential losses.
Then a not-pushover Indiana team.
Then we end with Michigan State, Nebraska, and Rutgers -- all B-tier programs, but you can't sleep on any of them. All three of those teams are capable of engineering upsets.
Next season might be a grim 8-4, and 7-5 or even 6-6 is not out of the question.
Joe won these types of games…all the time. So there’s
Joe has a record of unprecedented success in the biggest games in the biggest stage. So while we can quibble on the margins, the results speak for them self.
Franklin has no such record . In fact, it may be the one if tne worst ever.
Give someone else a
Wrestling of course…As I get ready to head out this morning for scones and lattes for my wife and me, I look at my closet full of Penn State jackets and say, “Why? Why do you do this to yourself?” Of course, I went out dressed like an idiot. Penn State. For f*ck’s sake.

I remember a buddy of mine years ago said "Give Joe Paterno a month to prepare for you and you are in trouble". Joe didn't win them all, but damn I liked our chances back in the day with him at the helm.if being 24-12-1 in bowls is being exposed, including two wins against the #1 team, I’ll take it
Pretty sure they broke the plane at least once in that goal line stand. OU damn good in 86, PSU back to win it all the very next season, that's how good that squad was Joe put together. Furthermore, we know PSU got the shaft in 94 and could have easily been crowned National Champs numerous other times. Any way you slice Joe is a top 5 all time easily.Geez, how people forget the 1979 Sugar Bowl and a certain goal line stand or the 1986 Orange Bowl (two national championship game losses) to make it suit their incorrect narrative.
I agree with you on breaking the plane of the goal line.Pretty sure they broke the plane at least once in that goal line stand. Well, Jay did coach a 2-Time 1st Team Big10 QB who was also a Big10 Offensive POY.I think we found Jay!
Not really. Check the records. I attended many of those games. You‘re really exaggerating.
Not a good angle, though.I agree with you on breaking the plane of the goal line. View attachment 742696
