Hey guys! What are the positives we can take away from this game?

Agree. You’d better score on those explosive plays because if you don’t and don’t have an offense that can close the deal (I.e., stinks in the red zone like PSU), you’ll be relegated to field goal attempts.
You mean fake field goal attempts. 🙄

Awful. And I’m an optimist. I’m on here because the hubby and I are worn out bitchin to each other. I love Penn State football, but I’ve grown tired of the teams looking ill prepared and hapless. I just remember the past teams being sound...tackling, running routes, blocking.... these teams seem like they’re playing lot ball....just get open and I’ll throw it to you. They are gamblers... only going big or going broke. Sigh.... thanks for hearing me out. I’m gonna go make some dogs and kraut now. 🥳

Stormy Buonantony is pretty entertaining I think; some good info and seems fun/knowledgeable (also not bad to look at).

Some young players to get excited about and a few guys look poised to have bigger seasons next year.

Plenty of opportunity for some new guys to contribute.

CJF is not going to be at the top of any lists for HC jobs next year (that might be a negative... ;) ).

Right on the money analysis.

Heartened by the defensive performance believe it or not. Played strong for about 3 quarters but broke down in the 3rd. Offense...well not much improvement and worse not sure what's going to change.

"Explosive plays" isn't an offensive identity. Seems like the coaches don't have one. This offense is hapless and uninspired.
Ciarrocca > Yurcich

It'll be interesting to see who plays at WR next year. We didn't take 4-5 for no reason. Other than Meiga and HW3, I have not seen any of the others get in at all. Dottin has been absent since Meiga started getting snaps.

Scott Bakula is very believable as a tough football player.

I wish we had Paul Blake at QB today. Actually, Sam Beckett would have been better. “To make right what once went wrong.”

His team feed sh*t to reporters and bloggers. It was never there. PSU took the bait yet again.

The distraction is real whether he's on a list or not. All this means is that it was self-created. Point is that will not be the case moving forward.

How dose Franklin even sell that mess of a game or program, that was terrible pee wee teams are better prepared and coached. The wheel's are falling off and Franklin will not be able to put them back on.

Not sure other than Franklin's infatuation with Yurcich. Hard to believe it could be behavior or conduct since he's back at Minnesota

Yurcich has a better more proven track record of high powered offenses. He's a great coach who has produced very high offensive outputs.

True, but still - distraction for team and fans and CJF (you saw this in real time after the Illinois game).
He used the media and social media to get what he wanted. It was truly amazing the names that weren’t heard while his was being blasted at full volume.

It's more proof the media (and I'm talking sports media here) aren't as tuned in as everyone thinks they are (or as they pretend to be). Riley to USC and Kelly to LSU were absolute shockers that no one was talking about (maybe Kelly, but not until shortly before news broke).

THIS!! ^^^^

Well said. The team does repeatedly look ill prepared and hapless.

The coaching staff flat out does not have this team prepared to play most saturdays and it’s been that way for a while- not just 1 bowl game.

I take things in stride at this point in life but I agree entirely. Sick to death of this “chunk” plays approach. I wish someone among the talking heads on BWI will admit that the approach sucks.
I’m just a fan … but if you can’t control the line of scrimmage, well, good luck because good solid teams will have your number. 8 years of the same thing… it’s like waiting for Godot.

You sure about that?
Fairly sure, but no guarantees - for two reasons: 1. No one is going to believe CJF is a top candidate for any job because a) his new contract and b) he's underperformed big time the past two years; and 2. There won't be any big job openings unless something disastrous happens - maybe Texas and North Carolina, but of the jobs that could open (wouldn't include LSU, USC, ND, Bama, Florida, etc.) which would he possibly consider leaving for? He could be a fit at Texas - take Yurcich with him who has some ties there. But, I don't see it.

The first half created false hope. The second went pretty much how I expected the whole game to go. Have they ever had a good offensive line under Franklin? I don't think so.

Barkley and McSorely were really good at hiding the shortcomings. Bringing in a great running back next year is great but unless he can literally fly like an airplane up and over the lineman, he's not going anywhere. Not to mention Franklin will try to keep everybody happy and give the entire rb room playing time.

Are we missing the home run hitters or has JF input too much?

LT was solid today. Missed the star DE, but Olu looked good. OL has some issues (why do we pull our LG to block wide right in a known passing situation), but they held up quite well.

Why didn't we try to run more today? 10 runs with our backs. 5.6 and 8 ypc between Lee and Cain.

I still never figured out why they were even in this game and not the Guaranteed Rate Bowl or the Pinstripe.
