Hey guys! What are the positives we can take away from this game?

Penn State can’t lose any more games this year?

Now on to the NFL!!! We’ve got the Eagles, Redskins, and Steelers to watch the next few weeks on their drive for the Super Bowl……..uhhhh…..never mind.

Are we missing the home run hitters or has JF input too much?

LT was solid today. Missed the star DE, but Olu looked good. OL has some issues (why do we pull our LG to block wide right in a known passing situation), but they held up quite well.

Why didn't we try to run more today? 10 runs with our backs. 5.6 and 8 ypc between Lee and Cain.

I think there’s still some simmering dislike for PSU because some members of the media are still jealous of Paterno and can’t get over it. Those media get off by pretending that Penn State is a second tier stepping stone school that coaches move on from to get to a “better” school. Franklin, his agent and PR team use methods that allow the media to run with this narrative because they constantly negotiate through the media. They put it out there that other schools want him, he doesn’t really say unequivocally that he’s not interested and the media has a heyday. Kelly and Riley kept things quiet until it was finalized. Oklahoma and ND have not been called second tier even though their coaches left for other schools. PSU is 7 in all time wins. Second tier, yeah right.

Hey guys! What are the positives we can take away from this game?

Ran left very well. Fashanu was a much better run blocker than walker. 5 or 6 rushes that way in the first half for 60+ yards. Washington and KLS will be a very good combo at WR. 52 Van de Berg got some penetration and should help in the DT mix. Safety should be a strength.

I still never figured out why they were even in this game and not the Guaranteed Rate Bowl or the Pinstripe.

Recent history says we aren't second tier. We are average, average, average. Not elite. Not great. Not good. Nothing other than an average football team. We get some wins. We have insufferable losses. We cannot adjust. We have a playbook that is middle school level. Ugh!

Well, there are a few lousy PSU reporters that way like Jones and Geiger (?). That said, Penn State has some very timid, unquestioning reporters as well who are pretty much cheerleaders at times.

What I’d love to see after games (and seasons) like this is Franklin and Sandy sitting up front and taking hard hitting questions at a press conference in a room filled with reporters from New York and Philly. The kind that will ask difficult questions and press the issue.

Should have tried the 55 yard FG with Stout. He's capable of making that. Should also have used Stout for the 50 yard attempt on the first drive. Would have probably at least another 3 points.

Have you seen Stout kick FGs this year? I mean seriously.

I think it's still way too early to make any definitive conclusions about MY (I would have said the same about KC too). Franklin's 'churn' is harmful for the program (but makes him and his staff look good).

Smith Vilbert
Amin Vanover should be a DE, if they have enough DTs
KLS took another step
Olu is a starting OT. If Walker comes back, they can move Olu to RT and slide Wallace to RG with Tengwall at LG and Juice at C is the first step to correct the running game.
Tengwall played both guards spots. He had some ups and downs but just looks like a legit OL.
The running game looked better but we did not attempt to run the ball. Cain got a nice gain and I would have liked to see they go right back to the run. Lee also had a good run.

His lack of accuracy really stood out today . I think he’s reached his ceiling, but we have to hope for more .
