That’s a broad statement. The players on the field right now seem to care.
Its about the state of college football...IM 63 and cant imagine quitting on my team mates. I played competive sports as an adult and would do anything for my team and I had to go to work the next day!!!And I had a young family!!!plus my coment has nothing to do with the players on the field...

It’s a different time now. The Gen Z group care about themselves first.

Like watching a Blue/White Game on defense. I don't hold anything against the guys that didn't play, but this seems to be a one way street.

Universities should start recouping scholie/training/coaching/boarding/medical/food/etc. expenses on a pro-rated basis for athletes that simply refuse to play. No excuses now that the NIL money is there.

I am good if this team plays well and loses. But dear Lord with over a month to prepare and all.the mistakes on both sides of the ball was ridiculous. So disorganized and look lost. Franklin will always lose 2-3 games a year.

Well that sucked! We had three key guys and our “Don Brown” out on defense against a guy considered to be an offensive wizard. Then had a couple guys get injured. Dart made good throws and their receivers (had at least three very good ones) didn’t drop many (maybe one) and caught a couple tough ones. A couple of bad missed assignments.

Our offense struggled again but looked good early and late (against prevent). A couple breaks, interception that just hit ground and fumble on pass that was overturned, correctly) could have swung it away. Who knows?

Good core of players coming back. Our new OC and DC create hope. We’ll be fine, but our competition should be stiffer.

Go Penn State!

At the end of the day there should be no movement from players or coaches until after the championship game. The NCAA :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:NEEDS TO STEP UP BIG TIME.
Ideally, that would be great. But the academic calendar doesn't make that as easy as we'd hope. Plus, it won't end any of the draft opt-outs.

Well, I'm disappointed, but my disappointment does not focus so much on the Lions' performance today as it does on what the CFB postseason has become.

The current CFB system, with most of the elite players opting out in order to protect their draft status, has turned things upside down. The postseason games used to be the biggest games, and the ones players were least likely to miss. Now, the best players opt out (which is perhaps understandable, given what happened a few years ago to that elite player from Notre Dame), and the team playing in a bowl game may be FAR less competitive than it was during the regular season. I seem to recall the announcers for today's game saying that the Lions had five (5) opt outs, while Ole Miss had one (1), and that it included Fashanu and both starting CB's. I'm not into offering excuses, but that clearly had an effect on the quality of the Lions' pass blocking and pass coverage.

I'm not sure what, if anything, can be done to fix this mess, but if I was a college and I was paying big NIL money to a star player, I might ask for a contractual commitment to play in the team's postseason game(s).

100% AGREE.But thats not what the opt outs think.
Agree. But that wasn’t the way your original post was stated. There’s 100+ kids on the team. There were 4 opt outs. The kids that played care. For all the crap Allar took here, he played hard until the end and was running the ball and taking some shots. He seemed to care. So did Singelton. So did everyone who participated.

That’s why in season road-trips are the new bowl trip. Washington and Oregon are gonna be epic 3 day parties

You're right. If anyone cares to save the sanctity of the non-CFP bowls, they're basically gonna have to put players under contract like any professional sport. However, the non-CFP bowls will never die because of the high TV ratings that they bring in.

Matchup Nightmare for PSU 2023?
Any team with a pulse - certainly any with a quality QB (of which, PSU faced 1 this year - J Dart)

That said, play the entire game with Pribula at QB - and run 70% of the time? PSU likely controls the game, scores 30+, keeps the pressure off the D, and wins. No way that was going to be allowed to happen.
Would also help if they ever learned to do anything on third-and-long-D except "send the house" and pray the QB can't get the ball out to his WRs. Of course, that all looks great against MSU and Rutgers :)

Just got through watching the recording as I was busy earlier. Received a spoiler text with the game at half time that saved me from watching the second half. 🙁
From what I saw in first half, I think the backup QB should be the starter, but gotta assume the coaches know best.

Revenue sharing + contracts will help. But agree - when a sacrificial Pop Tart mascot is the best thing about bowl season, something has to change.
